Donald Trump, With Bare-Bones Campaign, Relies on G.O.P. for Vital Tasks
NY Times ^ | Aug. 21, 2016 | NICHOLAS CONFESSORE and RACHEL SHOREY

Donald J. Trump is leaning heavily on Republican Party organizations to provide crucial campaign functions like getting out the vote, digital outreach and fund-raising, at a time when some leading Republicans have called for party officials to cut off Mr. Trump and focus instead on maintaining control of Congress.

Despite an influx of campaign cash from small donors in July, Mr. Trump’s operation still largely resembles the bare-bones outfit that he rode to victory during the primary season, more concert tour than presidential campaign, according to interviews and documents filed with the Federal Election Commission through Saturday night. And some Republicans believe he is effectively out of time to invest in the kind of large-scale infrastructure that the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, will bring to the polls in November.

Mr. Trump spends little on polling and made his first advertising purchase of the general election campaign only last week. His rapidly growing digital fund-raising and voter-targeting operation is a partnership with the Republican National Committee, relying significantly on lists built and maintained by the party in recent years.

And the GOP better come through with serious help to elect Trump, help him beat Hillary.

Otherwise the Republican party will cease to exist.

They need to go all out to help elect Trump, a Republican president and make sure that both houses of Congress will have a Republican majority.

We need all of the above to still have a USA, not a USSA (United Socialist States of America)

With all the money Trump has NOT spent, where are all the “money in politics is evil” crowd? Should they be applauding him for running a VERY successful campaign on a shoestring?

The only thing the GOP can do to stay relevant is to fully support Trump 100%, while denouncing and cutting off any GOP member that doesn’t support Trump. Otherwise the GOP is dead.

I thought The Donald had already lost and the election was a mere formality before Hillary! ascended to the throne.

Why is everyone still writing stories about Trump?

More concern that the usual useless people aren’t being hired and paid to lose like they did for McCain and Romney.

The MSM keeps trying to force Trump into the old mold, the Clinton/Obama/Bush mold. I wonder if Trump has even spent as much in total to date as Jeb did to win three delegates months ago. To quote The Donald, “Isn’t that what you want in a President?”

They’re going to be so embarrassed when he wins. THEN they will suddenly believe that “voter fraud” is a thing, which they are denying now when they wink and chuckle in anticipation of fraud helping that old sow, OvertheHillary, to get elected.

The hypocrisy is stunning.

Like they say, “If you want to make a conservative mad, tell him a lie. If you want to make a liberal mad, tell him the truth.”

The lefties are always so concerned about our losing candidates and always ready to offer advice. The GOP is always ready to follow their advice. Not Trump.

This is the most crucial election, ever. If the GOP goes through with sabotage plans, I am through with them forever.

The PROBLEM with that? Depend on the EVIL GOP?? ARE YOU CRAZY?? They have a woman in Illinois Appointed as State Director for the TRUMP campaign who at BEST was a county Campaign Chairman, NOW SHE IS GONNA RUN A STATE?? OH and she said she has NO BUDGET!!

I thought they got RID of Lewindowski because he did NOT have National Experience? But I guess a lady with NO State campaign expereince can run a State.

GOP is looking to end the party if their candidate loses they lose.

The Times, as well as other MSM, is playing towards there base readers. Let them think we are all in tatters. Give them a false sense of security. Let them display thier snobbish fake confidence. It will make Trumps win that much sweeter.

I keep getting Trump type calls daily (which I am surely are from scam artists); however, it must be a scam that is working because some unsuspecting souls are evidently sending the organization money. Starts with a message from Donald Trump and then if you listen to the whole mantra at the end it indicates that the group is not affiliated with the Trump campaign. So people pick up their phones. . .they wouldn’t have a clue. My answering machine is the best investment ever. I never answer the phone unless I personally recognize the caller/number.
