WASHINGTON — A test drive took a dangerous turn Friday when a woman trying out a Mercedes struck four cars and flipped the vehicle on its side at a dealership in Virginia, NBC Washington reported.

That’s a $60k GLE, basically a tall wagon. You CAN throw it around like a car. But you can’t throw it around like a skateboard.

In 1979/80 I rode in a Jeep CJ that belonged to the US Consulate. We were up-country in the hills and on windy roads. It had a bit of thin armor plate on the sides. Talk about top-heavy! It was scary to go around curves at 50 MPH. At least the Thai buses had a little shrine thing up front and there were usually monks on board in case you had to go check out the afterlife on a trip.

“I guess the traction control and the collision avoidance system didn’t work.”

Once you’ve overcome the gravity control, not much else is going to help you.

Well, yes. Needed to drive to Oregon, and no interest on the payment. What do you find strange about that?

I paid it off the next day from my debit card. I’m an engineer. Can you believe they pay me to do this stuff?!

Sounds like she went for the brakes but stomped the accelerter instead of the brake pedal. At least that is what it sounds like to me.

You want twelve degrees more strangeness ... I put a G down payment over the web, sight unseen. Further, bought it through Costco.

Strangest transaction I've been involved with :o)

Eight years later, sixty thousand miles, who am I to argue with Toyota engineering. I've had absolutely no issues with this truck. I now own three, and a Forester (for my rebelious youngest daughter).

True, but I am self employed and I feel the pain of credit card transaction fees.
