Customers Stiff Waitress; Write ‘We Only Tip Citizens’ On Receipt

Most food servers get tips from customers when they do the job.

All Sadie Elledge got was a xenophobic insult.

On Monday, the 18-year-old waitress was working the lunch shift at Jess’ Lunch, in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

At one of her tables was a couple that ordered two gyros and a salad.

Elledge told WHSV reporter Isabel Rosales that she gave them decent service, but when it came time to pay the $26.11 bill, she found a surprise on her receipt.

Instead of a tip, there was a note: “We only tip citizens,” with the signature of one “Ada M. Doriot.”

“I thought it was real disrespectful,” she told Rosales during a Facebook Live interview.

Elledge, whose father was born in Honduras and mother was born in Mexico, is a U.S. citizen who grew up in Harrisonburg.

Augusta Ada, to start with. Ada was a pretty common name in the 18th/19th centuries; Zilla much less so ;-).

Byron was the type who would be a Freemason, although I don’t know if he was.

Which was why I asked for evidence if he was. Considering that Byron had a problem with impulse control from a young age I don't see the Free Masons letting him in.

Free Masonry was frowned on, sometimes officially and severely. And at that point it was regarded as something those rebellious Americans were into.

I could see him more as a member of the Hellfire Club.

Mozart was involved with Freemasonry, though. Is he roughly contemporaneous? The plot of “The Magic Flute,” they say, is based on Masonic rituals.

I don’t see Byron as that much of a joiner, but on the other hand, he did want to do anything if it was transgressive.

The plot of the Magic Flute is based on Medieval Mythology IIRC.

And what was allowable on the continent, (those foreigners you know) and what was allowable in Merrie ol England was two different things.

True. I wonder where I read that “The Magic Flute” was about Freemasonry, because I know I did! DP and I saw it done in San Antonio in a Southwestern Indian interpretation, all Navajo symbols and desert backgrounds.

Well Mozart was a Free Mason so there likely was Masonic symbols in it.

I would love to see the Navajo version of it.

It would fit in their mythology nicely.

Yes, the Navajo have a great set of underworld myths. The sets and costumes were lovely. In the superscript translation, they would put “Son of a Chief,” where the German libretto had “Prinze.”

Hate too much? I vote Republican and I find the act tasteless and self-hating. first off, we all have our prejudices but there is no reason to be mean. Period. just put $0.00 and be done, no reason to take it that far. Secondly, how can someone be so demeaning unless that person has a need to put someone down? It makes no sense except Doriot feels so bad about herself, that she can only feel better by demeaning others. regardless, true or not, Ada M. Doriot wont’ be able to eat out much, not without looking under her food. She sabotaged herself.
