San Francisco's heart will undoubtedly belong to one man Friday.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill for an unveiling of an 8-foot-tall statue honoring legendary singer Tony Bennett. They greeted him with a cheering, standing ovation.
Bennett sang a certain song about leaving his heart in San Francisco at the Fairmont in 1961.

I have much admiration for Tony Bennett as a performer, but I haven’t felt the same about him since I heard him comment that he was not sure if WW2 was truly a battle worth winning.
Tony gets a lot of support for such remarks here in the S.F. Bay Area. He’s on the list of ‘safe’ or reliably progressive performers.
He’s a stinking filthy liberal, and I’m sick of seeing him hanging around the White House.
He left his heart in Cuba.. not SF.
A diehard liberal..
a no guns bleating heart lib..
Bennett was a combat vet of WW2, and he participated in vicious house-to-house fighting when the Allies crossed the Rhine and pushed into Germany.
Bennett has said that the experience turned him into a pacifist. I wonder if some people turned the word "pacifist" into "doubter", and that's the source of what you heard.
As for me, I'll give the old vet a pass on his political views.
Maybe so. He was there, not me. I haven’t the faintest notion of what that battle experience must be like first hand as a young G.I.
Yes. There is a difference between the two words pacifist, and doubter. They are not necessarily interchangeable.
Frank Bennett would take 80’s pop hits and perform them lounge act style.
Oh come on! You’ve got to be kidding!
Who cares, get yourself a life!
Since I've never heard his political views and whatever his leftist views you claim he has have never influenced this country's foreign policy, you're pretty much wasting your keyboard time hating on a great entertainer.........
They moved the old one to another part of the park. It got so much publicity, it’s a tourist attraction.
I recognize the Vitameatavegamin, but that looks nothing like Lucille Ball.
I left my harp in Sam Clam’s disco...
Sorry,couldn’t resist.
