Kaspersky works. You never hear about issues with them.
CC Cleaner
Kaspersky anti-virus
Malwarebytes
Same same W10OS.
You can get a uninstaller form Downloads.com to remove the files. Just run antivirus software after visiting downloads.com.
It looks like this worked! I did two scans back to back and I would say that together they were about 1 hour.
I will try this again in about a week and see if I get the same results (I like to do weekly full scans).
THANK YOU!
You are so very welcome.
Next time I get banned on FR for my political views, can I use you as a reference?

LOL
Did you keep Norton?
Just curious.
I don’t see why not. I have never had problems before..and this problem doesn’t even seem to be a Norton issue. I just re-upped this past Spring, so I will revisit next year.
Really, Norton does what it advertises. The only problem is that:
Norton
TrendMicro
Kapersky
Are incredible memory hogs.
And, when they update (usually automatically) they suck up more memory from your drives —and RAM—.
Question: Have you maxed out your RAM?...you should spend the money to go “peak-RAM” on your motherboard.
For legal purposes:
[in case your box gets hit with a viral-ware]

MRU-Blaster will get rid of all types of tracking cookies. Free, quick and small. You don’t use C Cleaner?
Yes, the church PC, which is still running Win5 (hey, if it works...why change!) is loaded with CCleaner and SuperSpyWare and MalWareBytes, but they are analogous. Not a lot of wide-ranging surfing. My home PC is loaded with SSW, but not CCleaner.
The church office uses CCleaner because, well, the church secretary doesn’t search for photos of Jane Russel like I do at home.

I don’t believe memory is an issue for me...at least the computer version of it. ;-)
Just a recommendation. It simply speeds up the “packet-swap” capability so you don’t have to wait for applications to render. It’s an “instant gratification” thing.
Having been the “tech-on-call” for several private individuals and small offices, I ALWAYS recommend max-ing the RAM capability for every unit, at purchase. “Don’t save money only to waste time waiting for the box to come alive; time IS money”.
That reminds me...I have to get some laptop RAM today.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it.
Yes, CC Cleaner is good.
pius,
So to delete the log files, open the Norton home page (by right clicking on the icon next to the clock at the lower right, and clicking on “Open Norton Security Suite”) and then click on “History”, then “Clear List”. This then deletes the log files Norton has made up to that point about intrusion attempts and past virus scans.
This is for the Norton Security Suite, which I get for free from Comcast (XFinity). Yours may be slightly different if you aren’t using the Suite, just the anti-virus software. But just look for a “History” section in the anti-virus program, should be a large icon that says “history”, and it will probably give the same option (to clear the history) once you click on it.
Hope this helps!
My everyday laptop, also running Windows 10 and Norton never loses a beat. I guess it does its scans while I am on (I shut it off overnight always). It shows 1 full scan and 50 quick scans during the past 30 days.
It is these full scans that take so long, even if nothing has changed other than their virus definitions.
See post #9. It fixed my issue. Perhaps it will work for you.
Hey there FourtySeven. Not sure if you saw but Cletus’ post helped clear it up for me. However, I do see what you are talking about in the event I need to do that in the future.
Thank you for your help as well....
Thanks!
Thanks for responding to me. It is all fixed now.
