Knifemen shot by police in Normandy after 'slitting priest's throat' and taking hostages
The Telegraph (UK) ^ | 26 JULY 2016 | David Chazan

Police have shot two men who took a priest and several others hostage at knifepoint at a church in north-western France.

The men cut the priest's throat before being "neutralised," police said.

Le Figaro newspaper reported that the priest died after his throat was cut.

The men’s motives are still unknown. Elite police units rushed to the church in the Normandy town of Saint-Etienne-du Rouvray after the men seized a number of people including a priest and two nuns.

It remains unclear whether the hostage takers were killed in the police action.

A police source told AFP that one of the hostages has been killed.

Up to six people were being held by the assailants in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, according to police sources.

A priest is understood to be among the hostages, as well as two nuns and a worshipper.

Their motives are unknown and police have arrived at the scene, according to news website Normandie Actu.

The interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, is travelling to the church.

The hostages included the priest, two nuns and two worshippers.

Police have sealed off the church, while ambulances are on the scene.

More to follow.

CNN finally getting around to reporting on this;

They quote the Pope as calling it “absurd violence”.

In centuries past, killing clergy was like declaring war on the Church and invoking the wrath of massive armies.

Today we’ve “upgraded” to absurd.

I think it is time to see what 21st century weapons can do with no rules of engagement holding them back. Drop every non-nuclear weapon of mass destruction on ISIS-held territory. Screw collateral damage. I say we should inflict MAXIUM collateral damage such as Satan himself will weep tears of compassion.

Vaporize block after block of cities. Drop every BLU-82 Daisy cutter bomb and fuel air bomb that we have. Lay waste to that entire area and kill everything that moves. If you have trouble finding each and every mosquito to kill, drain the damn swamp.

Make Dresden look like a birthday celebration.

ISIS likes to make examples of Westerners. We should kill a few million to make an example of why you shouldn’t mess with the US.

This is getting comical in a sick sort of way.

One of the first questions that needs to be asked when considering who should be welcomed as an immigrant into any nation is “Does this person want to assimilate and become one of us?”. If the answer is no, it makes absolutely no sense to allow their immigration. To what end? This has nothing to do with acceptance of others, xenophobia, or any of the other inappropriate labels that get thrown out there. This is about preservation of your way of life, and indeed even more fundamentally, preservation of your life and the lives of your loved ones and neighbors.

Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). Essentially, it’s another word for ISIS.

We could do that if we could keep every journalist and bleeding heart liberal out of the area for the next couple of years; that or allow them in just before the bombing starts....

Will the French release the priest’s body for burial or just incinerate it?

The French government refused to release the bodies of torture victims from the massacre at the Paris nightclub.

Muslims do the killing and the modern Vishi French run the ovens.

Hmmm....yesterday I saw (I think it was here at FR) that an Iraqi man had been arrested in Poland with a lot of explosives in his luggage. There was not much more in the short news report except a mention that the Pope was soon going to visit Poland.

What if ISIS has decided that there are no longer enough Christians in the Middle East to persecute, so order has gone out to attack Christian priests in Europe? Of course the Pope would be high on the list of potential targets.

Hmmm....yesterday I saw (I think it was here at FR) that an Iraqi man had been arrested in Poland with a lot of explosives in his luggage.

Before being arrested, the Iragi “Mr.X” had previously hired a few apartments along the road the Pope would be traveling from the airport to the place where the mass would take place. Actually, no more specific information is being given to the public.

The security alert is on and is unprecedented. The Polish TV (the only truly free TV in Europe)gives live coverage of the Youth Meeting in Krakow.

Don't worry:) We're also asking Archangel Michael, the patron of the Catholic Police all over the world, to help our boys in blue uniforms guard us against islamic murderers.

We believe, we do believe, the angelic hosts of the Lord under Archangel Michael will do their job as usual, just perfectly :)

Cheer up!

I think investigators must be getting a lot of pressure from on high. I fear the moment they decide to stop even giving out the names of the perps.
