"Istanbul (Not Constantinople)"

Istanbul was Constantinople Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople So if you've a date in Constantinople She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam Why they changed it I can't say People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople No, you can't go back to Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul) Istanbul (Istanbul)

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam Why they changed it I can't say People just liked it better that way

Istanbul was Constantinople Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks

So take me back to Constantinople No, you can't go back to Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul

Muslims occupy formally Christian lands, and its all good. But put Jews in Israel, and they have a hissy fit that will last centuries.

That's certainly understandable. "New Amsterdam" is a mouthful to say, in contrast to "New York."

This song has been played in my mind for a number of years. When first heard had no significant reasoning. After all these years it is now understood and often repeated..... before/after that particular Seinfeld episode.

I actually still enjoy the first two They Might Be Giants albums. There was very good song writing and humor there.

Good songs are good when the artist is good. I like that version as well.

I’m not a big comedy fan, but that was one of the funniest movies ever made.
