LOL. I know what you mean. There’s an old adage that every task expands to the time available to it. So sometimes, I deliberately put stuff off just because, I know that I will hurry and get it done without spending all that time.
Awesome. 5 on the table wrapped in newspaper (a flyer from Branson when last there - sometimes good things in the midst of this disaster - saw the Beatles imitation group - met them afterwards).
May need to wrap them individually in paper towels if that’s better. Just harvested the Sweet Basil leaves from last 2 week’s growth - sending to friend along with pepper seeds - store and organic - he and neighbor going to have small community garden. About to start drying them now in oven. Last I used 170 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Will probably only go 10 mins today.
I have been keeping a lemon tree indoors in the winter, since 2010, and I think Kentucky weather is a bit warmer than ours. I put mine in front of the patio door which faces mostly west.
Thanks for the pics. The amount of rainfall we have had is a lot for July weather, but I’ve lost track of the amount we have had this month.

When I get to the end of a gallon of milk and there’s an inch or so left, I fill it up to the top with water and water the tomatoes, zukes or cukes with it.
I don’t have an exact ‘recipe’ but no harm, no foul.
My best bets for tomato production are still powdered or liquid bone meal in the planting hole and a top dressing when the tomatoes are about 2’ tall, and AlgoFlash For Tomatoes as a general fertilizer a few times during the growing season.
I was kinda thinking that plan, too. So thanks for saying so. Gonna have a gallon coming up like that. Do I need to hit the peppers, too? Two good-sized tomato planters (small compared to real) and same with peppers.
I have 5 other starter groups going with organic pepper seeds (Orange), store-bought Anaheim seeds (hey I’ll give it a try) and the last three are pretty much tomato seeds (so far amazing growth - have 37 plants, some 3-6” or so in just 2.5 weeks.
My 3 Sweet Basil need to regrow after today. Left all baby leaves - probably 40-50. Nothing on Sweet Pepper or Better Boy yet. Gonna transplant Better Boy I guess, soon.

Hope you have good luck with the job hunt. Too bad about the little garlic. I only plant enough for our use. Most of mine this year turned out pretty big. I will use the tiny ones first also.
Garlic is one of my favorite things to grow, because it needs so little for success. We are getting quite a few squash and zukes, but not much else is ready.
Tomatoes are going to be slim pickins.
Oh and Bone Meal on order - small - 3-4 lbs. Should arrive Thursday.
Will probably start with the milk though.

50lbs of oyster shells are $9.95 but on the other side of the state. Since it’s technically a friend’s garden, they get to make the call when, where and how much.

Oh I went crazy with one of those 5 planters. Found carrot seeds for 50 cents at Walmart close-out. Soooooooooo small - I probably dropped 10-20 in some holes. Oops.
Oh well, I’ll separate them as they start to mature. My first package is almost all failures (maybe 6 tiny, tiny plants). Bad soil.

Yes, the seeds are tiny. I have tried a lot of different methods, but finally settled on using the tweezers to plant the tiny seeds.
So I just dump some out in my hand and use the tweezers to pick them up and place them. I can’t recall who told me to try tweezers, but it might have been tubebender, anyway it’s not my original thought or anything.
After work today I picked and packed the first two cases of roma tomatoes for the taco truck. Those will be delivered tomorrow.
Production should start ramping up next week. The roma bushes are absolutely loaded with green tomatoes and they’re all still making new blossoms.
It looks like there will be a couple or three cases worth of slicers and a case or two of culls ready to pick by Thursday evening.
I don’t think I’ll get rich off of it this season, but with any luck at all I’ll make back my input costs and put a serious dent in my start-up costs.

All maturing plants milked the other day. May hit them again in a few days. Jobe’s Bone Meal arrived today. At least it was 4lbs and not 3lbs like the description (conflicted within the online ad).
Used sparingly but hit all veggies and a little on the tender sprouts. Lotsa water today - 99 degrees and no rain for a week and not for several days hence it seems.
Rain keeps missing us, too. Going out to water, now...

And so the little dog was out dragging around and tearing the Bone Meal bag (4 lbs). I had already used about 20% so I don’t think he wasted more than 5% or 10% of the remaining. Still..........
I guess there are real ground up animal bones for calcium in there and he smelled it......
