but I do hear that Trump wants Harry Reid as the White House toilet bowl cleaner<<<

I'd rather him be in charge of “recreational exercise equipment” for all Democrats in the country....

Its the only way to make them quit.....REALITY!

I’m hoping against hope that it’s bait and switch and that Trump will appear on the balcony with Jeff Sessions. That would make me comfortable.
I don’t trust the GOPe to not try and take Trump out. I want to feel secure that the VP would carry out Trump’s ideas in case of a catastrophe.

“Correct. The qualifications for VP are he must meet all the requirements to be president and he must be from a different state than the president.”

This is not correct. The prez and VP can be from the same state.

The 12th Amendment says electors cannot vote for a prez and vp from their own state.

Using Bush and Cheney as an example. Let's say Cheney didn't switch from Texas. All electors would be fine voting for both of them except for Texas electors. They could vote for Bush and McCain for VP. Bush would win for prez. Since no one would have a majority of electoral votes for VP, then the House would pick the VP from the top five vote getters with each state delegation getting one vote. In this case the Republicans controlled most of the state congressional delegations so they would vote for Cheney.

For Trump and Giuliani it would be even easier. Every elector would vote as they would, and New York electors will vote for Hillary as Trump won't get within 15 points of Hillary in New York state.

Anyway,. Trump could pick Giuliani if he wanted to without any Constitutional problems.

I want a dragon as VP. The Left and Islam and BLM want us destroyed.

If you’ve been down the road the signs must have been switched.

All the Constitution does is prevent electors in the Electoral College from voting for a president and vice president who are both from their home state.

In many elections, that actually wouldn’t matter. President Barack Obama could have picked a running mate from Illinois in 2008 and 2012 with no ill effect. Ditto for Bill Clinton’s victories in 1992 and 1996, George H.W. Bush’s 1988 win and Ronald Reagan’s victories in 1980 and 1984.

But in a close election, the Electoral College quirk could matter (as well as the hoops people might try to work around it).

I’d like to see Col. Allen West as Trump’s VP, with Rudy as the head of Homeland Security.

Yeah, it’s a shame so many FReepers have no sense of humor or adventure. It must be lonely for them.

The worst case would be that Pence takes his name off governor’s ballot and then Trump picks someone else.

If that happens Trump will be seen as incompetent which he cannot afford.

I really wanted a tough guy/woman with balls of steel.

Someone on another thread suggested that pence being a gope guy was a deal maker and that was why he was selected.

I don't want a gope guy.

Why would I vote for Trump if I wanted a gope guy?

That’s not actually accurate. The 12th amendment refers to electors in the electoral college.

Electors in the president’s home state wouldn’t be able to cast votes for both the president and vp. In this case, if a Trump-Guiliani ticket won NY, the electors from NY could only vote for one of them.

Electors from other states would be free to vote for both Trump and Guiliani.

Yup. Trump has a winter home estate in Palm Beach he could call home and register there.

Rudy is smart and tough. He cleaned up the mess in NYC left by his predecessors.

If that’s your idea of a good life then you are in luck.

For the rest of us it’s just a sad decline in the story of our nation.

Just saying.

A female running mate would make, tons of sense.

And Sarah has already been vetted. It is why the left and the GOP mainstream, both went after her so hard. She also has been strongly with Trump since the very beginning.

Palin. That is my honest opinion.
