The Shawkiyyah branch municipality in Makkah has confiscated and destroyed about five tons of Zamzam water offered for sale along Jeddah-Makkah Expressway, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
The municipality’s chairman, Mamdouh Iraqi said the quantities of the blessed water were confiscated at Al-Zaidi car detention center near the Al-Shumaisy checkpoint.
The chairman said a number of illegal vendors were caught and handed over to the police for necessary legal action.
Iraqi warned that drinking unhygienic water might endanger the lives of citizens and expatriates and asked all residents to immediately report anyone who sell Zamzam water along the roads leading to Jeddah and elsewhere. “Selling Zamzam water along the road is totally prohibited,” he said, vowing to continue dispa
