In 2012, Harvard Divinity School Professor Karen King presented the fragment, which includes the phrase, “Jesus said to them, my wife.”

Since then, other scholars have raised doubts about the fragment’s authenticity. …

I salute your faith and attitude. But I’m not so sure the Christianity supported by John Paul II can survive the counterfeit brand promoted by Pope Frank.

If you read Acts, a student of Gamaliel as Paul was would have been regarded as exceptional in terms of being a Pharisee. Right up to his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, that is exactly what he was. And he was still not married at that time.

Around here, a skank is someone who is sexually promiscuous in the extreme-since I’ve not read that the woman from Harvard is anything like that, I won’t use that term-idiot, ignorant, dumbass, f’ing stupid-any of those, certainly...

Not meaning to ruin your joke, but all the apostles were gainfully employed, and usually self-employed too.

Except for Judas Iscariot. John 12:6 makes it plain that he was a thief.

How would Jesus being married or not affect his divinity one way or the other?

Too many cooks?

I guess marriage would reduce the possibility that he might have been gay.

Our founding father John Adams said something to the effect that while he believed in God, he did not believe in Religion. Thus, no religion in our Constitution.

The story of Christ speaks to the virtuous heart. No digger can affect that.

“Many pointy-heads now believe that Jesus was gay and lived in a backward society that did not allow gay marriage.”

The father of lies prowls the world like a ravening lion, seeking whom he may devour.

“What is sinful about fathering a child within the bounds of holy matrimony?”

Nothing. It is only sinful for a priest to marry because he took a vow before God that he would not.

Today, some women think they can “have it all,” that they can give 100% to their kids, 100% to their husband, and 100% to their career, and still have some left over for themselves.

Clearly, when somebody sets out to give 300%, somebody else has to get short-changed.

Similarly, no man can give 100% to God and give that same 100% to a wife and family.

No one is forced to take holy orders.

Priestly celibacy is a great gift and a great blessing.

Unmarried priests are able to give more. There’s no guarantee that they will, but they can.

Having a wife isn’t a sin. Still, I don’t believe that Jesus was ever married.
