Black bears here, black bears there – black bears everywhere.

We've reached a point where all of (Upstate New York) is bear habitat.

Because New Yorkers don’t shoot ‘em.

If it’s like it is in Tennessee, the berries aren’t good this season and the mast doesn’t look good either...

Black bears are known to roam around 20-30 miles a day looking for food...

(Still a little early to tell for sure about the mast crop though...)

Where's Daniel Boone when you need him?

(That's supposed to be the famous "Kill a Bar" tree.)

It is not for us to know when the coconuts drop, the fungi shed their spores, flowers release their pollen, bacteria sporulate, and the least of which—bears come into town. It is what it is and if it is not what it is, it would not be.

No problem...I’ve hunted black bears with Plott Hounds for over 40 years in both Tennessee and Ontario...

Will they pose a danger to the folks who spend the summer in the bungalows of Sullivan County upstate? There will be LOTS of children in those bungalows and they and their parents are absolutely totally ignorant about nature and its more dangerous denizens. They are lovely people, the best, but they are from the urban areas of Brooklyn and know not the way of bears.

Well, some decades ago we did see Black Bear along the access road to Missinaibi Provincial Park...

The only trouble with Bears I've had was in Yosemite near back country in the 1970s.

Well, if it’s a bad thing, it’s because of the NRA and homophobic conservatives.
