Sorry to hear that you have to evacuate. Sounds really bad there, just saw they’re evacuating everyone south of 337 and 217. Hoping for the best.

I’m a half mile west of that intersection. Fire is now 12,000 acres.

I remember the Ponderosa well—When Rudy had it as a one room little cabin—Many years ago.

You probably remember the Blarney Stone too.

Slim I’ll be in the Tijeras area for a few days starting on 6-22 visiting a friend. Will be watching this closely.

Hope they get this contained soon. Many homes along South 14 are in dense overgrowth of pines and in severe danger otherwise. Hope it doesn’t get that far. Stay safe FRiend.

I’ve been driving around on the roads that aren’t closed. It looks like the main area of activity is past my place to the east, and with the prevailing wind from the west (with a slight south component) I doubt it will double back plus make a real move north. I’m about 12 miles from Tijeras proper.

OK, I’ll be staying in the Rincon Loop Rd. area North of I-40 high up on the ridge with a good view to the South. Hopefully they will have it contained by then. Thanks to you and Dave for the updates.

Best regards,
SS1

That’s West of where it started, and way farther north. I’d say there’s no danger of it going there. It may head toward Moriarty once it hits the plains.

Looks like it missed us to the south and east. Still closer than previous fires. Leaving the cars packed though.

Thank God. Leaving the cars packed is a very good idea. Fires are so unpredictable.

I lived in the little house in the parking lot of the Blarney Stone for about a year...Transitional time in my life.

Thanks, I don’t think this one will be a problem. The winds here rarely blow from the east this time of year. It’s followed a easterly and slightly northern course the whole time, the surprise was how fast it grew. Tuesday it was under 100 acres and now it’s over 12,000. Between wind and single digit humidity, trees just blow up.

That’s pretty cool. I met another guy over the ‘net on a Shotgun forum who grew up in the adobe house near the intersection of south 14 and old 66. The internet is a strange place.
