The mother of the boy who fell into a gorilla enclosure has said that "accidents happen" on a Facebook post hitting out at critics.

The endangered animal was shot dead by zoo staff to protect the four-year-old after it began dragging him around.

Michelle Gregg has faced criticism for social media users and animal rights campaigners, who claim she should have been keeping a closer eye on her child.

Some animal lovers even suggested she should have been shot and killed instead of the gorilla Harambe.

Responding to the criticism on Facebook, she said: "I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers today. What started off as a wonderful day turned into a scary one.

"For those of you that have seen the news or been on social media that was my son that fell in the gorilla exhibit at the zoo. God protected my child until the authorities were able to get to him.

Oh sorry, I didn’t catch the sarcasm obviously. But some of the posts here abdicating the mother’s responsibility, I thought you were serious :-)

People have no clue as to just how strong they really are

The Phenomenal Strength of Gorillas!

It has been said and calculated (although not offically confirmed) that a Silverback Gorilla is at least 20 times stronger then 20 Strong men! Now If you would take the STRONGEST men in the world and combine their Strength together against that of a Silverback Gorilla, yeah then you’ll definitely need less men to compare against the Phenomenal Strength the Silverback Gorilla possesses. But not much, as a matter of fact, I think that the Gorilla can easily take 5-8 of the Strongest men in the world on a pound for pound basis, break both their arms & legs in a blink of an eye and rip their heads off in a split second! Bottom line though is that they are much stronger than any human being, and they have four very sharp teeth (2 on top and 2 on bottom jaw) that do serious damage when the use them.

That's true about ridicule. We might even add scorn and continuing observation with the following in mind.

‘At first, it looked like Harambe was trying to help the boy, O’Connor said.
The gorilla stood him up and pulled up his pants....’

I didn’t make it up !

“Wow, is that the only thing you could think of.”

Yes, I’m of limited intelligence and you should be ashamed for pointing that out.

“Stay away from women who own two things: lots of dried flowers and lots of cats.”

I didn’t know about the dried flowers, I’ll keep an eye out!

The dog is food in the extreme but predictable future event of famine in this country. That’s about it, most don’t keep hunting dogs.

“That gorilla was about to kill that little boy. The zoo did what it should have done.”

Exactly. Would their publicity be better if they let the gorilla have its way with the little black boy, for fear of lawsuits from animal rights activists? Are they just gorilla food, now? BLM activists would be all over it, the zoo let a boy die because of the color of his skin. This was a damned if you do damned if you don’t event and it’s possibly all scripted to stir the hive. Animal rights ascendancy is coming, this is a step after the lion, so the discourse is naturally more vile. There will be more steps. A vegetarian-only world is one part of the big plan, Agenda 21. Not for the elite, naturally. They have to remain wild to maintain power.

” Good parents know their kids and know what situations present the time for more watching—————”

Sometimes situations just happen before one has time to plan.

We don’t always know what’s just around the corner, kids or no kids.

Are you talking about the kid being stupid?

I'm talking about the parent being stupid. How could anyone with half a brain not be holding a four-year old's hand that close to that exhibit? And letting a child wander away out of sight? Who does that anymore? How is that any different from parents who end up in very big trouble for leaving their kids alone in an overheated car?

Again, the time it took them to get the gun and make the shot proves irrefutably that they HAD OTHER OPTIONS. Which they didn’t even bother with. Thus they are failures, and they should all be fired.

It was a overwhelming success. The child is alive. The animal that would have killed him is dead.

and what do you think about the mother being a terrible mother and having an animal killed for no reason. Not a rat. a monkey. of course the child had to be safe first but that animal’s life has value even if you don’t think so

I have no idea what kind of mother she was. Accidents happen. The ape was killed because there was a high probably that a human child was going to be killed by it.

If you know your kid is a handful, you hold their hands. You don’t let them run lose near wild animals.

And if you're not a 100% perfect parent all the time thank God there are some people who will shoot animals to protect people.

This situation didn’t just occur. She took him to a zoo - that was planned. He nagged to go into the water. That was a big warning that she needed to actually watch her child at that time. Again, good parents are cognizant of when their kids might get into trouble.

Apparently this lady had no clue.

I’ve been around lots of ‘parents’ who ignore their kids, ignore the warning signs, and expect other people to parent their wild children. I’m not around them for very long though ;)

There’s no proof the animal would have killed him. These things have happened before with neither kid or animal killed. They had other ways, they ignored them all, they killed the animal purely out of their own gross incompetence.

As I posted earlier, I am fine with shooting the animal. But I doubt if this is the first time the little shit has gotten away with stuff.

“Again, good parents are cognizant of when their kids might get into trouble.”

Not so———things can just happen w/o warning with the best parents in the world.

That’s the way it is.

Yeah. That little bastard 3 year old must be evil incarnate. Too bad the gorilla didn't rip him limb to limb. Right?
