Donald Trump repeatedly mocked Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., as “Pocahontas” at a press conference in North Dakota on Thursday, even as a Native American woman present at the event interrupted to call his comments “offensive.”
“That’s very offensive. Sorry,” the woman said.
“Is that offensive? You tell me,” Trump asked.
The woman replied that she was offended, and Trump quickly repeated the phrase.
“Oh, oh really — oh, I’m sorry about that,“ Trump said before turning to a reporter who had asked about Warren, immediately using the term again. “Pocahontas. Is that what you said?”
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has previously used the term to refer to Warren as an allusion to a controversy over her past claims of Native American ancestry. Warren listed herself as a minority when she worked as a faculty member at a pair of Ivy League law schools in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Though she reportedly is 1/32 Cherokee, that would not qualify her to be a member of the tribe. The issue made headlines during Warren’s 2012 election campaign and she defended herself by claiming her “family stories” held that they had Native American roots. “His record has been bad in terms of, you know, speaking about other indigenous people across the border. … Mexicans. … They are indigenous to their country. And we didn’t have borders back in the day on the continent, you know, we were all indigenous people that were roaming freely in what is now Canada, the US, and Mexico,” Robertson said.
Robertson, who described herself as a member of the Cree Nation, also alluded to Trump’s German ancestry.

So, it’s offensive to call a WHITE woman who has been proven to have absolutely no Indian ancestry “Pocahontas”. And why would that be?
I’m offended that she spent so long lying about her ancestry in order to gain an advantage at the expense of real Indians.
And, I still think “fauxcahontas” is better and I wish Trump would use that instead.
My wife, being of part indigenous heritage thinks it is a laugh. She despises warren for being a socialist and being a fake Indian even more.

I'm offended some woman thinks her ‘feelings’ can be used to shut down my political speech.
I'm offended Warren used the lie about being an Indian to gain advantage over others;
People who accept that kind of lie ARE OFFENSIVE to me.
The complainer also said the idea that Native Americans have high cheekbones is “racist.”
However, that was Trump quoting Warren.
Pocahontas was a real Indian, and we shouldn’t make fun of her.
Fauxcahontas, OTOH, is as much of an Indian as Obama is a patriotic American (i.e. not at all), and is VERY deserving of some smart ass remarks. Her theft of the benefits of the suffering of American Indians is far more insulting than a couple of remarks made offhand by Donald Trump.
It’s sad the Native American snowflake is offended. She should toughen up so she isn’t offended by the word.

Mexico is a nation, not a tribe or a particular race and only about 1 in 5 residence of Mexico identify as indigenous.
She has to be a Redskins fan...
