Casey Anthony's lawyer admits she killed daughter Caylee, investigator says

More than five years after a jury in Florida cleared Casey Anthony in the murder of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, a private investigator claimed the mom's attorney admitted she killed the girl and hid her body.

Dominic Casey made the claim in court documents that went public last month in Casey Anthony's bankruptcy case. He also suggested that the mom paid her lawyer with sex.

The investigator claimed attorney Jose Baez hired him days after police arrested the mom in July 2008. He said, "Baez had told me that Casey had murdered Caylee and dumped the body somewhere and, he needed all the help he could get to find the body before anyone else did."

This trial was a hot topic for discussion here on FR at the time. A new development as a private investigator claims the defense attorney said she was guilty.

We all know she did, but the prosecutor botched the case by going for a penalty that could not be sustained based on the evidence.

One of the dumbest juries in the history of juries. The foreman was (correct me if I’m wrong here but I think) a gym teacher who was interviewed, and you could tell he thought he was so smart. The sad thing was that I recall some FReepers at the time who agreed with the verdict.

It wasn’t that that they agreed with the verdict, it was that the prosecutors could never connect the mom to the body. Had the jury found her guilty based on their presentation of evidence, it would have been overturned on appeal; they couldn’t prove she did it, they didn’t even try. They counted on the bad publicity to convict her.

They absolutely did connect her to the body. They admitted she died at the hands of the Anthony family. They didn’t raise doubts it could have been a third party. The defense proceeded to slander George Anthony, call him a child molester, and blame him for Caylee’s death. There was absolutely no evidence whatsoever that George did that at all. It was throwing crap against the wall to see if it stuck.

The jury didn’t think so. And it was botched because the prosecutors were lazy and expected the trial by media to do their job for them. They (the DA) deserved the acquittal..

Hence why I say the jury was one of the dumbest juries. I watched the trial along with millions of Americans who saw the evidence presented by the prosecution and were outraged at the verdict. Watch the reaction videos. It was like OJ all over again, except this time the races were united in thinking she was guilty.

As I understand it, the prosecutor was planning to retire when this case came across his desk and he decided to go out in a blaze of glory by going for the heaviest penalty, instead of what was warranted based on the elements of the case. Had he gone for a second degree murder charge, she likely would have been convicted and spent the next twenty years in jail.

She wasn’t dangerous, just stupid. She didn’t want to give up her partying ways and thought putting her kid to sleep on Xanax would help her continue to party. She should have given the kid up for adoption.

that’s what happened?!?!

still had to be a decent sized dose, no?

can’t imagine even 1 mg xanax doing much more than knock the kid out for 10 hours.

I can’t imagine the long term damage she was doing to her kid either. She was setting up Casey to become a lifelong state dependent.

There was a search for chloroform on the computer, and it was said that she gave her too much chloroform to get her to sleep.

Why is this guy suddenly coming forward? Just another bizarre twist in the story. Who knows what the real truth is but we all have our theories. Personally I dont believe she deliberately planned to kill her daughter but was definitely responsible for her death. How about the woman who had an affair with Casey’s father? She said that the father admitted to her that the child died in a tragic accident. Drowning in the backyard pool is as good a theory as any, imho.

No matter what your theory is the prosecution failed to prove their case. That is what the jury acted upon.

As I understand it, the prosecutor was planning to retire when this case came across his desk and he decided to go out in a blaze of glory by going for the heaviest penalty

And he probably assumed she couldn't afford a good lawyer.

He didn't reckon on the old barter system. From the story:

He also suggested that the mom paid her lawyer with sex.

When I saw her pic originally I had three thoughts.

"I can see why this case is getting a lot of coverage."

"It's not going to be easy to convict her, regardless of the evidence."

"There's a sugar daddy paying for her defense."

Didn't think it was the lawyer. That's a plot twist.
