Veterans are outraged that a West Point cadet decided to phone it in during a march on Saturday morning.
The cadet, who was wrapping up a 47-month training experience and graduating, had her eyes glued to her phone instead of paying attention to marching.

I have a close relative who is a West Point grad. Been visiting there a number of times myself.
They are not (I don’t think) technically “in formation”. And that definitely isn’t on the hallowed infield of the sacred plain.
When they want to move the kids around campus in a group they have them move in columns like that.
Probably wrong on her part, but not a severe a violation of discipline as the headline implies.
I’m surprised they have her wearing a skirt.
They should all have been drummed out of the Point with full ceremony, stripped of their uniforms and sent packing in their skivvies.
And yes, they are ‘chicks’ in the photo is Post 4.
Cadet Cupcake is just seeking directions so that she can find out where she is.
I work at an all-male military boarding high-school. On certain days this winter I saw the cadet corps marching up to the academic building. Everyone looked uniform and sharp except one Black upper classman who instead of wearing his book bag (small rucksack) like everyone else, he was towing it behind him because his had wheels. It made the whole formation a joke and nobody in the military department though it was worth correcting him.

That was marching in a formation. That is a fact. She was texting while in formation. Wrong and a violation of decorum AND discipline.

This woman has the makings of a great officer. She can multitask.
After failing to discipline the many cadettes who performed the black power salute, this will go by the boards.

I agree - some of them appear to be ‘gazing around’, which leads me to believe they are at ‘at ease march’...I have no idea whether or not phones are allowed when ‘at ease march’, and it doesn’t really showcase the cadets very well to do that with so many in the public around...but this wasn’t on the parade field.
