Looks like FReepers will never learn that a European right winger and an American right winger are two very different things.

I was under the impression they would have properly vetted Waldheim and knew exactly who he was BEFORE the UN appointment. It’s crazy to think otherwise. It would be a major embarrassment if true. But when did that ever stop Weisenthal in his endeavors to track the war criminals.

I found this: In 1994, former Mossad officer Victor Ostrovsky claimed in his book ‘The Other Side of Deception’ that Mossad doctored the file of the then UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim, to implicate him in Nazi crimes.

These allegedly false documents were subsequently “discovered” by Benjamin Netanyahu in the UN file and triggered the “Waldheim Affair”. Ostrovsky says it was motivated by Waldheim’s criticism of Israel’s war in Lebanon. His opponents disbelieved and discredited him claiming he was never an Israeli agent, actually he really was Mossad.

Truly, I have no idea, he should have been vetted. Millions served in the Wehrmacht, I can’t imagine that all are considered Nazi war criminals.

Which camp, transport, or atrocity of civilians defined his war crimes? Did they ever disclose the important details.

This is the UN we’re talking about here, and at the height of their “Zionism is Racism” garbage.

Perhaps he wasn’t guilty of war crimes. But there’s no way he should have ever been UN Secretary General or President of Austria.

The language is either insufficiently accurate or has been corrupted such that conservatives on this side of the Atlantic are tarred with the same “far right” brush that Aryans are routinely described by, in Europe.

How many times have we seen, in this country, the MSM describing conservative and patriotic people as “far right”? A lot.

__________

That’s what it sounds like to me. Runoff was against Green Party, with a platform of “Eco-taxation, feminism, etc.” The regular guy seems to have won, 52-48 with mail in ballots yet to count, but he only needs a little over 41% of those to win. Results Monday, apparently.

I love seeing Euro-leftists and globalists angry.

I only know a bit having traveled to Austria when he was President. I heard that the knowledge of his past, made him MORE popular, not less, to Austrians.

From Wiki:

The World Jewish Congress alleged that Waldheim had lied about his service as an officer in the mounted corps of the SA, and his time as an ordnance officer for Army Group E in Saloniki, Greece, from 1942 to 1943 based on files from the United Nations War Crimes Commission. Waldheim called the allegations “pure lies and malicious acts”.

Nevertheless, he admitted that he had known about German reprisals against partisans: “Yes, I knew. I was horrified. But what could I do? I had either to continue to serve or be executed.” He said that he had never fired a shot or even seen a partisan. His former immediate superior at the time stated that Waldheim had “remained confined to a desk”. Former Austrian chancellor Bruno Kreisky, of Jewish origin, denounced the actions of the World Jewish Congress as an “extraordinary infamy”, adding that Austrians would not “allow the Jews abroad to ... tell us who should be our President.”

I don’t think that there was much of a choice for able bodied men or youth not to join the Nazi party in Germany and Austria. Join up or you become the enemy and their target. There were mass arrests of those trying to leave as well. We all remember Captain Von Trapp and his escape with Maria and the singing kids. All based in truth.- Edelweiss.

Why not? You’d struggle to find any man of his generation who didn’t serve in the German military of that period.
