Sanders would be replaced on the campaign trail with Larry David.

Oh drat, I took too long to post :-( According the official rules I can’t win. I will have to look for ways to disqualify you. Or claim self-esteem issues require us to share the prize.

ROFL!! Well, to be honest I picked Trump to win it when he entered the race. I (along with probably millions of other people...) became quickly attuned to why he'd win the nomination: he tapped into the anger at Washington D.C. that existed across both parties.

Back to the V.P. question: yesterday morning my wife asked me who I thought Trump's V.P. pick would be. I've bounced back and forth between Kasich (for the reasons I stated above) and Susanna Martinez, the Governor of New Mexico.

I told my wife yesterday morning that I thought Susana Martinez would be a good choice. She's smart, a good problem solver, has executive experience, and knows at the State Level how the gears of Government turn. Governors typically make the best Presidents because that experience translates well to the Federal level. For those reasons alone, I think she'd be a good choice.

The "politically correct" reasons which I shun, are she's obviously a woman, hispanic and puts to rest the "Trump hates women and hispanics" argument pretty quickly.

So unless someone else has already picked her ... she's all yours!

I agree about Newt. Stop and think about the main requirement of the VP. That requirement is to take the helm if the President is incapacitated. Now plug in the buzz people like Nicky Haley? Marco? etc. Ask yourself — Would i think this person was ready to run this entire country? Only if you are kidding yourself. Marco Rubio was the opposite of Trump on Trump’s theme issue— stopping illegal immigration. Trump is fiercely loyal to his friends— He is very wary of his enemies. He owes the GOPe absolutely nothing but a kick in the butt.

I also agree with you on this matter of a VP.....it needs to be someone that has the ability and experience to handle the reins of the Presidency should Trump not be able to do so. That may very well happen IMO because I'm not so sure, as some are, that he really wanted the office to begin with....... so it's not unimaginable he might look for a way out, I say this because just the fact of being able to move about is very 'confined' for a First family...and this will be a major problem for Trump to adjust to in itself........added to this the weight of the office itself he has no clue what he's stepping into except that it is over his head. So he needs to carefully examine his choices ...I would love Newt there and would feel somewhat more comfortable with Trump as President.....which I'm not at all currently.

I'm also not sure just how Trump will handle the GOP once he's done using them in the General....obviously many aren't willing to hook to his wagon even now. So there's much to be concerned about. A outstanding VP would calm the nerves of many that need to be calmed....including Trumps.

I understand your position. We are very fortunate to have Trump making this huge sacrifice for nothing. The only reason he did it was because this country is in such horrible shape in every way.
NEWT brings an experience and expertise to balance Trump’s lack of those two necessary components. I don’t want to hear about his divorce decades ago unless you first describe for me the pornographic details of Bill and Hill. Newt can be of great value to the nations return to sanity. I’m for Newt. I had thought about Susan Martinez ( NM) but it was just pandering to women and minorities although she is an outstanding Governor and conservative.
NEWT brings no particular constituency or state but he brings maturity and knowledge. I was so encouraged listening to Dr. Carson talk about Trump in private being an quiet listener. Carson spent one hour in a wide range of subjects and it was a pleasant surprise to see a different “Donald Trump” — not the combative campaigner but the intellectual, respectful and careful listener. Trump needs Newt. He wants to restore the constitutional process which has been brutally raped by unconstitutional congressional delegation of duty and executive orders,.

Thank you very much there hasn't been a lot of understanding for months here so it's nice to see some level of that over those still striking out......

You wrote....”NEWT brings an experience and expertise to balance Trump’s lack of those two necessary components.
... NEWT can be of great value to the nations return to sanity......NEWT brings no particular constituency or state but he brings maturity and knowledge.”..... Trump needs Newt..

Yes indeed, He has a definite ability to bring calm. And that's because people will and do hear him for exactly what you stated above. I could let out some breath if Trump chose him....

I might be wrong but I think possible Trump , at 70 himself, may very well choose more seasoned people because he knows he needs their wisdom and experience.....we'll see just how smart or foolish he is as he appoints his cabinet as well.

I do wish I could be more optimistic but I simply can't at this time....and anyone needs to understand this .
