When Shelby Bonnie’s iPad went missing, he tracked
its separate itinerary and entertained his followers with its whereabouts.

Last month, Shelby Bonnie’s iPad vanished from his carry-on bag somewhere at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after a red-eye flight from San Francisco. He figured he would never see it again.

But sometimes our devices aren’t ready to say goodbye.

While Mr. Bonnie, an investment banker with Allen & Company, continued on his way to the Bahamas for a few days of relaxation, his iPad began a strange odyssey of its own, turning Mr. Bonnie into a digital gumshoe and the narrator of a personal thriller that played out on Facebook, to the delight of his online friends.

“I said, ‘I’m definitely going to lose my iPad, but I’m going to have some fun,’” Mr. Bonnie said in a phone interview.

Ah, the Slimes. "Misplaced" when it vanished from his carry-on.

So, was it stolen, or simply fell out, aka "lost", and not returned? Neither scenario means "misplaced", except to the brain-dead "journalists/editors" who must be rejected writers and/or SJWs unclear on the concept of reality.

I had a similar but less glamorous experience a few years ago, when my iPad went missing while at a store. I went home, and tracked my missing iPad as it wandered around San Francisco, settling down at a hotel. I informed police of the whereabouts. Meanwhile, I sent a messages to the iPad that if returned there would be a reward, and triggered alarm messages on it. I got no response, and on the second day I triggered the erase function to wipe the contents of the iPad. Two weeks later, I was informed by BART subway Lost & Found that it was turned in, complete with case and other possessions inside including cash. I figured it had to be a tourist who had guilty feelings before heading home to the airport via BART.

You are exactly correct.
Misplaced is when one thinks it is on the coffee table in the living room...when it actually is on the sideboard in the dining room.
It was very probably stolen and journalists simply will not write those words about justice-involved people.

"Misplaced" when it vanished from his carry-on.

For me, when my iPad disappeared it was because I was careless. I was at a women's clothing store waiting while my wife shopped. They had nice sofas with coffee tables for men waiting on their gals. Women can take a very long time, so I used the iPad until tiring and set it down. Yup, forgot to pick it up when my wife said "Let's go!". The good thing is that I have a strong password and the screen locks when the cover is closed, and I have tracking turned on.

about six months ago - my wife and I went to Sams club. I carried it with me into the store and set it on the childrens seat. when we got out to the car, I unpacked and she took the cart back - I asked her if she grabbed my ipad - we looked at the cart return and it was already gone.

The previous week I loaded a find me app....we followed it around th store on her phone...she said "we have to be right on top of it"....as an old man rounded the corner...I tapped him on the shoulder and asked for my ipad - he had no idea it was even there and thought the green cover was part of th seat. LOL - I got lucky on that one

Like when one justice-involved individual misplaces a bullet into another justice-involved individual.

Liberal explanation: Misplaced = you put it down and took your eye off of it for a second in a public place. Hence, mis-placed.

Or, stolen...
