What Was Ted Cruz Trying To Accomplish By Confronting Trump Supporters?

Posted on 05/02/2016 10:39:13 PM PDT by GLDNGUN

Desperate men do desperate things. This was more sinister than meets the eye.

That one is hapless and delusional beyond the normal Cruz supporter. He or she just is NOT living in reality.

I don't think they realize that Ted Cruz is lying to them too. Ted Cruz took the lies of the leftist culture, including the media, about Trump and ran with them so he's been lying all along to his supporters as well.

A narcissist wants to be the martyr. By becoming one, he wants people to feel sorry for him and give him the benefit of their good will: a vote. Of course, narcissists are a pain in the rear and most people won’t give them a dime’s worth of sympathy.

$1,000 cowboy boots!  Yes, that fits the pattern perfectly.  A real cowboy is the epitome of toughness in a man.  But Cruz strikes me as a guy who tries to look the part of tough because he's hiding something.  Style over substance.

And what he hides, I think, is the fact that he's not sociable and not "one of the guys".  Too cerebral, a bit too calculating to really hang loose.  As a child, he didn't play sports.  And so he feels the need to overcompensate.

The most striking example was his over-the-top promotion of that "tough guy" tattooed image in a poster he sold for many months on his website.  Oh yeah, that Cruz is a real lady's man :- )

And now he taunts Trump about bullying and "inciting violence".  But wait a minute, Ted: cowboys fight back and they're not afraid to muddy up their boots on occasion.

Trump often says, if we could just talk... we all want the same things... so I was about to defend Cruz and say that honestly he was just taking a chance, convince one, convince another. Until I got to your 2nd paragraph from the bottom, and now I think you're right — he would have loved a punch. Thank God he didn't get it!

“Trump had a $1 million judgement for hiring illegal aliens.” False. The Trump organization, back in 1980 hired a real bad contractor to demolish a building where the Trump Tower would be built. It was a Polish contractor, Kaszycki & Sons, that hired 200 Polish workers to do the demolition. By the way, it was never established that the “Polish Brigade” were illegal immigrants. And, in 1980s money, their pay at $4.00 an hour was very good for unskilled laborers’ work. I was only paid $3.50 an hour in those days and, it put me through college.

The contractor, William Kaszycki, wanted these Polish workers to be hired as non-union workers and worked out a deal with the union shop steward. I think the contractor worked out a deal with the shop steward to exempt him from making the Pension Fund payments.

William Kaszycki’s poor business practices caused financial problems with meeting payroll. He had those workers working 12 hour shifts seven days a week with no pay checks. Eventually Kaszycki went out of business. While all this happened Kaszycki, he made sure he hid his activities from Donald Trump.

The dispute started when a union worker, running for a union office found out about the Polish Brigade and the missing Pension Funds. He rallied his fellow union workers to demand that these non-union workers comply with the same requirements as if they were union workers. Did you detect a red flag here? Do you see see the political dynamics here?

The case went for almost two decades. It ended with a settlement. The case was sealed and the amount of settlement was not to be revealed. Whoever revealed that it was $1 million is either a liar or has violated the terms of the sealed order. Lyin’ Ted spouts the lies of the Left, knowing that few will look into the facts.

“Do you know that Trump supported Bill Clinton’s national ban on some of the most popular weapons in America?” It is true that in the past he called for banning assault weapons and a longer waiting period for gun purchases. This is reflected in his book, “The America We Deserve”, published in 2000, Trump wrote:

“It’s often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s internet technology we should be able to tell within 72 hours if a potential gun owner has a record.”

However, his thinking has evolved. He has said:

“The Second Amendment is a bedrock natural right of the individual to defend self, family, and property. The 2nd Amendment is right, not a privilege. The small minority of anti-everything activists may be vocal, but we have facts, and the Constitution, on our side.”

And,

“I do not support expanding background checks. The current background checks are not working. They make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to acquire firearms while consistently failing to stop criminals from getting guns. We should re-examine our policy to make sure that these prohibitions do not impede law abiding citizens from exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

On gun magazines:

“Gun magazine limits do not make common sense. I have long opposed such limits. For instance, I fought the SAFE Act in New York, which I call the “Unsafe Act.” I also spoke at a rally in Albany championing gun rights and protesting the Unsafe Act. The law limited capacity to seven rounds, as if criminals were going to take rounds out of their magazines before committing a crime. It was later changed to a limit of ten rounds, but the entire episode was a complete disaster. Never mindful of the results, this effort was just one more attempt to erode the Second Amendment.”

On gun free zones:

“No, not optional. As Commander-in-Chief, I would mandate that soldiers remain armed and on alert at our military bases. President Clinton never should have passed a ban on soldiers being able to protect themselves on bases. America’s Armed Forces will be armed. They will be able to defend themselves against terrorists. Our brave soldiers should not be at risk because of policy created by civilian leadership. Political correctness has no place in this debate.”

Since then, Trump has recently received an AR-15 as a gift from a New Hampshire gun dealer.

As a former Cruz supporter (I was hoping he and Trump would be a team. Still do in some ways), most of us see Donald Trump as a caring American who wants to simply Make America Great Again. He's not perfect, but through testimonies from people who know him, from ex-wives to employees to female executives to even a former butler, many of us realize he's a man of integrity, and a much, much better human being than people know. Most of us can forgive him when he makes a gaffe because we make them too. We want someone who's smart, but we also want someone who doesn't talk down to us or preach to us. We want someone who is like us, and can talk like us. To many people, Trump is like us because he knows the value of good, honest, hard work, plus smart investing and business. And to top it off, he's an inspiration because he's successful at it. And Trump is more than what you think Cruz is.

Listening to Cruz repeat the lies he has been telling about Donald Trump with such blase conviction convinces me that he is living in an alternative universe.

He is the GOPe version of Bill Clinton, without the charm.

Over educated ignorance, when combined with arrogance is a very ugly thing!

A more benign explanation is that perhaps he was just hoping to better understand the psychology of Trump supporters—the people who just won’t come around to him and have effectively ended his bid for nomination.

Then again, I guess if he’s Aspergers as some have claimed, he probably wouldn’t have much interest in others’ minds.

And he’s confronted many people like these idiots before....if there wasn’t more than one it would have been fun.

Cruz debates about conservative ideas. No need to make up scenarios and conspiracies as the op did.

cruz underestimates the trump supporters and doesn’t get that their main reason for supporting trump is that he is not a politician...
yes he buys and sells them like the cheap whores they are...
he plays the game which he didn’t design but he is a winner.......
trump is making a personal effort to trun thngs around and has the national interest at heart... he uses common sense issues that people are truly concerned about...
the other candidates ue outdated gibberish that is the standard hot air blown up their behinds evey election cycle... once they get in dc the focus is on money in their pockets... trump already has money and has allocated $20 mil of his own towards winning... the wall, the vets, smart negotiations, smart foreign policy are all common sense... this is certainly refreshing versus 8 years of a traitor.. and clintoon enriching herself at the expnse of 4 individuals and selling the country out with deals like uranium one...

watched the exchange earlier. The lies coming out of Cruz’s mouth were incredible. Really good to see disciplined supporters standing fast, welcoming and turning back his challenges. Go Trump!

Disciplined supporters? Turning back his challenges?

Really? You thought they came off well?

I don’t think he under estimates trump supporters, he doesn’t agree with their conclusions. He thinks trump is fraud and has changed his positions to make a run for the whitehouse. There is ample evidence to suggest he is right. we shall see. He is certainly better than Hillary even before the flip flops

He just regurgitates the same canned set of talking points he’s been repeating and repeating on Megan, Meet The Press, Hannity, Ingraham, etc., while trying to do his best Reagan impersonation. It’s patronizing and amateurish. This clown needs to get off the stage. Please Indiana. Show him the Exit!
