The only surprise was that Melisandre survived. After the age thing last week, I thought she’d do a Lord Beric and die after giving Jon the kiss of life. If she’s 400 years old, and looks every day of it, it’ll be hard to turn her back into a sex symbol. That would be creepy even for HBO. At that point, she loses much of her utility for HBO storylines, unless GRRM has yet another big contribution in mind before she’s done.

Now he needs to find a huge supply of the Valerian steel to forge into weapons to stop the White Walkers.

I’ve never seen this show, but find the name John Snow curiously similar to the name of the British Airborne Battalion commander at Arnhem, John Frost (portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in, “A Bridge Too Far”). The real Frost later retired as a general officer and served as an advisor to the film. Anybody familiar with GOT....are there any parallels between the characters other than the similarity of the names?

In the books red priests can continue to bring people back to life. In fact this is an entire story line the show hasn’t touched on. John Snow will probably being dying quite often. They will need the red lady around to revive him.

I think the stone steeled by dragons breath is critical

What we’d call obsidian

I for one did not know for sure Snow would be revived in some form till last nite

Not many fans on this forum.,,it’s quite vulgar admittedly

My wife woke up happier than usual

Our oldest boy bears resemblance to Snow and Jim Morrison

In the books out of wedlock children of the noblemen from the north were given the last name Snow. This identified them as illegitimate and would not be in line to inherent any property or title.

Ramsey’s last name is along Snow. He is the illegitimate child of Roose Bolton. Jon is the illegitimate child of Eddard Stark.

He thinks he is lord Bolton, but everyone in the North knows his last name is Snow. He will be seen as illegitimate.

One death is enough for Jon. Or two, if he expires nobly at the climax. It would be cheesy, and bad writing, to keep killing and resurrecting him. It's one thing to do that for a secondary character like Lord Beric. It's another thing entirely to do it with a principal.

In Lord Beric's case, the narrative function of the repeat resurrections was to establish that bit of magic in readers' and viewers' minds so that they'll buy into it when Jon comes back. The precedent is important. But it would kill the dramatic tension if a lead character simply keeps coming back.

Even before last night’s appalling display, I’ve said Ramsay Snow is the most diabolical character I’ve ever seen on screen.

What ever happened to Robert Baratheon’s bastard son who set sail on the ship in season 2?

Since the show has basically reached the end of the books, I’m just speculating they are going to incorporate the red priest angle with Lord Beric, but using Jon Snow instead. I wonder if they will resurrect Catelyn Stark?

I also noticed they are starting the story line about the Iron Islands.

I think that is a dead end. It’s Robert’s illegitimate son anyway. This is how it was left in the book if I recall.

I am always amazed at how fans of the show are “surprised” when a death happens, or in this case a resurrection. Most are so telegraphed in advance that its hardly any surprise.

Frankly when it came to Ramsey killing his father and his wife and half brother, honestly shocked it took him that long to get around to it. And the John Snow resurrection was telegraphed from the moment the Red Witch entered Castle Black. There really was no other reason for her to be there, other than to have a plot device to revive him after his death.

Its not a bad show, but nearly every death is telegraphed well ahead of time. The exact manner and gore on film may be for shock value, but the actual fact a player is going to die is hardly ever shocking.

I’m happy Snow was revived

I’m happier Van Houten is back to her normal age....lol

Something about alabaster and robes and magic but boy she’d be dangerous to cross

Since the next book hasn’t been written, I don’t see HBO continuing the north storyline. They are shifting to the Iron Islands and possibly Dorne. They might also show Samwell’s journey to the citadel. There are also some new characters that they could introduce.
