A desperate mom was filmed as she dropped to her knees when a cruise ship left her and her husband behind while their three children were on board.

The incident, which occurred on April 21, was caught on camera by passengers on board the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship in the Bahamas.

The 4,000-passenger ship was dockside preparing to depart for New York when the woman’s husband noticed she was missing.

He was driven away in a buggy to look for her, leaving their three children on board.

Minutes later, the ship’s horn blew as it sailed off. The couple tried racing back to the ship but it was too late.

I don’t know how many here watched the PBS Britcom Keeping Up Appearances. There was an episode where Hyacinth Bucket
(pronounced Bouquet) and her husband Richard were going on a cruise on the QE 2. She took them to the wrong dock and they and they’re dozen or so pieces of luggage missed the boat.
Very funny.

Just another emotion ridden news story, non story to get people to look at advertising.

So what?

In a couple years, the wife will be asking: “How come you never take me anywhere?”

Especially since the children were chained to the floor in the engine room until they reached port again. They received only one meal a day, a bowl of steam.

My dad served on the USS John McCain as a radarman.

He missed his ship somewhere in the middle east. It just up and left without him.

He would have been in big trouble but his excuse was he was getting his burst appendix removed in an emergency operation in a crummy, dirty, muslim hospital.

He caught his ship a few days later. He STILL got in trouble.

The wife was selfish, the husband was stupid.

Tough. The boat’s departure was scheduled. Her fault. The cruise line had no obligation to stop, return and pick her up. Tough cookies, lady.

Absolutely. They knew what time the ship would be departing. It was their obligation to be back on time.

Why is this even news?

Its not like its an 18th century schooner leaving for a 3 month voyage to Australia.

Nothing unusual. I see this throughout our short cruise ship season.

Fact is it is the most asked question of my cruise ship clients; “will you have us back in time so we don’t miss our ship?”

Hahaha...when I was in the USN, there were always running men when they were getting ready to pull away the gangway... I thought it was hilarious to see, but I will tell you, I made sure to never, EVER put myself in that position.

Ditto here. Shortly after I got out of the Navy, I got married and we went on a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. My new wife couldn't understand why I was always in such a damn hurry to get back to the ship promptly. She thought for sure, the ship would wait for everybody to get back on board.

Sure enough, a couple of passengers missed ship's movement and got stranded in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They had to buy plane tickets to the next scheduled stop where they rejoined the ship.

Stupid should hurt. If more stupid and selfish people experienced the consequences of their actions, life would be better for decent people. On that ship with 4,000 passengers, all but one did what they were supposed to do. There is no reason they should have waited even 30 minutes for one spoiled brat.

I’ve been on half a dozen cruises and I can’t remember a one where our departure wasn’t delayed in at least one port because of missing passengers.

When we hit our first port of call, they hammered home the seriousness of missing movement.

Then, when they punished the first offenders, they made public how many there were and what the penalties were.

Next port of call, they reminded us, but didn’t hammer it home. We didn’t have any in our squadron who missed movement, but there were always men from other departments and squadrons.

LOL, ALWAYS someone.
