I voted for Cruz
Me

Posted on 04/26/2016 8:56:07 PM PDT by MacMattico

I voted for Cruz in the NY primary because I thought he was the most conservative candidate. But it's over. Trump is the nominee. Any contested convention with the number of delegates Trump will have will guarantee defeat in November. I will not sit at home either and let the Clintons back into the White House without a fight. I may not have voted for Trump (yet) but he is what I have to work with to defeat the Clintons and save the Supreme Court and that's what I plan on doing starting tomorrow morning. I'm all in, and that's the only way we can save a generation from the Obama/Clinton new world order. I hope some of you can join me that said never Trump. He's so much better than Hillary Clinton and her entourage. I also think Trump will now reach 1237 so let's come together.

Good post. I simply wonder how FR survives after the Trump Train leaves the station. I don't know how many of the Zottees were regular financial contributors, but logic tells me that the donor pool is drying up.

I expect I'll be voting for Trump when he's the official nominee, only as a vote against Hillary, nothing more.

As a Cruz supporter I will try to answer what went wrong. Cruz appeal was to the “intellectual” conservative. He is (was) a candidate that we have been told could never win the primary. This year likely would have been different absent Trump’s entry into the race.

His first mistake was not supporting Trump against the riot in Chicago. He still had a chance at that time. I even winced at that. He also lost the PR battle over the intricate delegate selection rules. Trump was a master marketer on the big things.

I am in the #NeverHillary camp so I am more than willing to gamble on Trump. I hope he surrounds himself with some true small government conservatives but only time will tell.

Trump will not say it until his nomination is officially secure but I believe he will eventually show great respect for the battle Cruz waged. Not the missteps but the organizational approach. After all Trump slayed them all and only Cruz gave him any real fight.

Cruz's big mistake in this election was not recognizing that Trump wasn't a novelty candidate until it was too late.

Yeah, the rally/riot thing didn't help, either.

We don't even think about it now, but Trump went after Jeb Bush HARD right out of the gate. He recognized that Jeb Bush's money and connections would be very hard to beat if he got any traction with the voters.

Cruz thought Trump would be a passing fancy, and he was "allied" with Trump... with the plan to gather up Trump's support when the inevitable collapse happened.

What is it that they could to stop trump?

Colluding with an appointment highlights your weakness as a candidate. The 'deal' between Kasich and Cruz shows that Cruz is really not that principled after all.

I share your concerns. As a Californian, my vote hardly ever matters in the presidential election. I don’t have any qualms about voting against Hillary, but I’d like to vote FOR a president, out of enthusiasm, instead of picking the lesser of two evils.

I hope Trump rises to the occasion as a mature, conservative leader, but I don’t think he’s there yet. I hope he grows.
