Confessed time-traveller pretty sure he'll win U.S. presidency

If Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton don't resonate with American voters, they always have Andrew Basiago -- a presidential candidate who is pretty sure he's going to become "either president or vice-president" between 2016 and 2028, according to information he's gathered time travelling.

Cheekily calling his campaign "a time for truth," Basiago, 54, brags on his site that he "served bravely in the two secret U.S. defence projects in which time travel on Earth and voyages to Mars were first undertaken."

Basiago -- who has made similar claims in the past -- also said he's helped several former presidents make important decisions by gathering knowledge through time travelling. Now it's his turn.

It's no surprise then that further exposing these secret technologies is a big part of the Seattle lawyer's promises if elected.

"Project Pegasus developed eight modalities of time travel by 1970, only to keep this great technical feat of our nation -- the advent of time travel -- secret from the American people," reads one of the independent candidate's promises. "Only by disclosing its time travel technologies can America unleash the potential that these technologies have to advantage humanity in the 21st century."

He's also promised to expose a secret Mars colony, alien contact, and wants to put the sasquatch on the endangered species list.

Basiago officially registered to run earlier this year. He's raising money on his website and through social media.

If they could enlarge that picture of him, you would see two large men in white coats and a butterfly net several feet away getting ready to pounce.

Absolutely! My wife and I have now stocked up on enough Costco microwave popcorn to get us through the general.

That assumes all images went out in a straight line - which they do, in essence from an object, but the rotation of the Earth would screw up your reference point (air waves give a shimmer, gravity can bend or so I’ve heard).

As you said, only brief glimpses could be seen - cloud cover notwithstanding or any space-traveling object, that on the most slim chance crossed the path, obscuring the view.

I liked the response Marilyn vos Savant gave - if the universe is endless (given), and star light travels incredible distances, why is it that the heavens don’t appear to be nearly one bright, constant light.

Because the others are so very, very, very distant, the light hasn’t been able to get to us yet. Even though some has traveled incredible distances. I remind myself that the Sunlight you see (or accidentally see the star itself while driving - hopefully dodging looking directly) is in fact, roughly 5 minutes old itself. You’re looking at history when you move the visor to block out looking directly at the Sun.

How did you snap a photo of my house?

Secret gov’t agency spy satellite that hovers just off the ground or Area 51 UFO doing the same thing?

Firely with real-time video?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Why does he have to do any fundraising?

Seems like he could use knowledge obtained from his time travels to pick winning stocks and commodities, and self-fund his campaign with ease.

"why didn’t he go kill Hitler"

In the prior timeline a guy named Hertzmann came to power and killed a million Jews.

So this time traveler guy went back and killed Hertzmann resulting in Hitler's rise to power and the death of six million Jews.

There's no chance he's going to go back and kill Hitler for fear things will only get worse.

93 million miles away (approx) / 186,000 (approx) miles per second.

The roughly 5 minutes is in error. Heard that as a kid, never did the math.

Just checked. The orbit is somewhat elliptical, so they’re giving the average time.

The short answer is that it takes sunlight an average of 8 minutes and 20 seconds to travel from the Sun to the Earth.

So, if he is a time traveler, why didn’t he go kill Hitler when he was a young layabout in Vienna?

Because Jeb told him it was all taken care of already.
