In a speech he said he was giving “to recognize the importance of the signing” of the Paris climate agreement, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D.-Ore.) declared on the Senate floor last week that “global warming is…the more challenge of our generation.” […]

“We know what the stakes are,” the senator said. “We don’t need computer models to look 50 years into the future because the impacts are here today. We see it in our own communities. We see it in our own States. We see it through the impact of droughts, the impact of wildfires, the impact of heat waves, the storms, the hurricanes, the tornadoes. We see it through story after story of this year or this month being the warmest ever recorded by humans.” …

The amazing thing is that some people are not sick of transparently dishonest hyperbole such as this.

Does this dope of a senator really think that the droughts, wildfires, storms, hurricanes and tornadoes that we've experienced over the past 10 or 20 years are worse than the droughts, wildfires, storms, hurricanes and tornadoes that humans have experienced for thousands of years??????? These idiots really do believe their own BS.

Yes, it is.

Will we cede our freedom to the globalist types over the fraud that is “Global Warming,” or will we retain our freedom?

Nah, not creeping Muslim expansionism, but the phantom of global warming (I thought it was ‘climate change’) is the challenge of our generation. Senator Merkin Muffley.

This senator is so full of it that it’s not even funny.

There ALWATS have been droughts, tornados, hurricanes, heat waves, wildfires, etc. throughout the course of human history.....and even before that.

They are nothing new, and are not caused by humans or industry.

I cannnot remember which definition of “senator” fits best:

1. The high school idiot who really didn’t have the talent to do anything except for lying.

2. The workmate who stole everything.

3. The university student who really couldn’t make it in any real academic major, so chose law, because womyn’s studies wouldn’t admit him/her/it.

4. The drunk down the street who screwed everything in sight and couldn’t figure out how to screw a light bulb in (oops, I was thinking of a Kennedy).

Whenever this drooling bottom dweller would like to talk some science, I am prepared to hand him his Obamahole.

I think the greater “moral challenge” is truth and veracity of our governing elites . Global Warming is a damnable lie.

Thank you for referencing that article Olog-hai. As usual, please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Regarding Sen. Merkley’s talk about global warming, it remains that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for PC climate change purposes.

That said, I haven’t found any evidence that Sen. Merkley has proposed a resolution to propose a global warming amendment to the Constitution to the states which, if the states chose to ratify such an amendment, would give the feds the power to tax and spend for such a purpose. Insights, corrections welcome.

And it remains that the House, not the Senate, would need to originate any bill intended to appropriate taxes (1.7.1) for global warming purposes if the feds had the constitutional authority to make such a bill.
