Two times in six years. The Norwegian AF needs to be grounded.

I’d say the squad manning the tower are damn lucky they weren’t Swiss-cheesed.

I’m guessing the Norwegian AF isn’t all that large. Might be the same pilot both times. (Or the same guy that is supposed to check the guns before flight.)

“Two F-16s were taking part in a mock attack on the uninhabited island...”

Umm, if you are using live ammo, it’s not a “mock attack”!

Maverick: Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby. Air Boss Johnson: Negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.
Maverick: Okay, in that case ....

BenLurkin :" A hail of bullets hit the tower in the incident, which happened on the night of April 12, but the officers inside were not injured."

They need more time at the practice range !
especially if NATO forces are outnubered, outgunned ,and outranged !

“Uninhabited island”

My guess is they hit the “spotting” tower.

Probably Air Force personnel in it to tell the pilots where the bombs and bullets are hitting.

When I was in our F16s always had their guns loaded. The missiles might have been trainers but the gun was always live.

Had one guy taxied his plane back to the hanger without having the gun disarmed afteer a flight. big boo boo

Another one left his radar jammer on when he landed and fried the base radar. Ahh fun times in a war zone.

"Two F-16s were taking part in a mock attack on the uninhabited island of Tarva off Norway’s west coast when one of them opened fire with its M61 Vulcan cannon..."

If the "author" had a passing association with 2nd grade English, he might note that f16s are piloted by...pilots...and that they might have played some small role...

Now, using a cannon against the control tower...just use the American cop testi-lies: The control tower was running at me! I feared for my life!!
