For fun I did some number crunching.
I took the delegates gained by trump and Cruz in winner take all and winner take most states and divied them out proportionalply based on % of vote.

The effect is dramatic.
Trump -128
Cruz +56

Trump leads Cruz 615 to 601 with 386 delegates going elsewhere.

With those counts, neither one can reach 1237 by proportional delegate counts and it should go to a contested convention.

If folks want pre-determined rules to be chucked out state by state and delegates awarded proportional to the voters - it goes contested every time. So, trump fans who don’t like the rules - Cruz wins by picking up the left overs (386) when trump and Cruz are the only two on the ballot.

That is just so weird. You wouldn’t expect that open and organized attacks from his own party home office would have that kind of effect./s

Oh no, not by a long shot! Romney was by far the weakest ever! No one but no one, except the mormon faction and the elites wanted Romney. Romney was shoved down our throats! How short are our memories! The base wanted a brokered convention. We were told by the elites how bad this would be for us. As Romney destroyed with slander one candidate after another, the people moved to the next candidate but never to Romney, until only Ron Paul was left, and even even when only Paul was left he still took 40% of the vote in Virginia. How short memories are! This is why it was so important to unite behind one candidate early in this race, and so sad people have forgotten this, and now because of this we face the very real danger we will yet get stuck with Romney or Bush or Ryan again.

In fact is, Trump is a VERY VERY VERY strong candidate. The fact is that after all the abuse he has endured, he still has huge support despite the fact that there are still two well-funded candidates standing against him! With such constant media hits from every direction against him, he still has huge turn-outs at his rallies! With such enthusiasm for him, he still wins most primaries! Interestingly, over and over, fraud has been reported, which leads to the possibility there is much more fraud going on than any one suspects! (His wins may in fact be massive!)

Yeah, way behind, just like Reagan! Har de har har! Record breaking turnouts both in Trump’s meetings and the voting booths of citizens who are allowed to vote show the Trump effect. I can also name numerous former Cruz supporters who have become disgusted with Cruz and switched to Trump. GO TRUMP!

Were there 17 candidates in those primaries?

Considering that Trump is running against all the other candidates, the GOP at the state, local, and national level, the Dems, the liberal media, Fox News, the conservative pundits, National Review, Soros’ entire cast of scoundrels, the kitchen sink, and pretty much anyone else who wants to be considered someone right now -— I’m absolutely amazed that he has been able to hold his own without utter crash and burn. I don’t know any other candidate anywhere who could play this all-against-one game of political dodge ball and still be standing.

The system was rigged after Reagan to give party insiders the ability to steamroll everyone else and it was supposed to work that way for Jeb Bush, but Trump came along and blew up the finely rigged insider game.

The fact that Trump has any lead at all is practically a miracle, since this is the first time people have actually had a real choice since Reagan. However, the GOPe fully intends to rectify this situation at the convention if they can and put an end to this aberration of the natural order and destroy the renegade Trump.

Ha ha, that is because the Republican Establishment is 100% against TURMP even though he is still winning and they are defying the American People. There won't be a Republican Party after 2016, I just left the GOP and I support something to replace it.
