The Unbearable Whiteness of Baseball
NY Times ^ | April 6, 2016 | Jay Caspian Kang

y instinct, honed reflex and general contrarianism, I root for all “flashy” “showboats” who are “disgraces to the game.” It has been this way since I left Boston at age 10 to move to North Carolina, a state with no notable baseball team save the minor-league Durham Bulls, who, at least when I was growing up, seemed more a Hollywood relic than a ball club. Freed from having to like the Red Sox, I began to root for Rickey Henderson of the Oakland Athletics, mostly because I liked how deeply he squatted while taking a lead off first base. He seemed as if he were taunting the pitcher. As I grew older and started feeling alienated from my white classmates, I gravitated toward athletes who, in some way, flouted the white, stoic traditions of American sports — Allen Iverson, Ken Griffey Jr., Rasheed Wallace, Pedro Martinez. I felt as if this was a moral choice.

When will the NYTimes investigate that there are no Hispanic basketball players? How about a NYTimes story on the recent the recent NBA All-star game that was 100% Black?

Since “quota” is the PC norm, how about racial “quotas” in all professional sports???

See how the NAACP reacts to THAT!!!!!

Apparently, lumped into the author’s reference “unbearable whiteness” is a large representation of Hispanics in MLB.

Or are those “white Hispanics?”

Just another poor lost soul who doesn’t fit in and unleashes his pent up rage on people who don’t look like the people he wants to be around.

These racists are now mainstream...

I gravitated toward athletes who, in some way, flouted the white, stoic traditions of American sports — Allen Iverson...

So goes the author's credibility... Allen Iverson is from this area of SE Virginia... he has a reputation of being an insufferable, thuggish a**hole.

Rickey Henderson was famous for referring to himself in the third person. He was a character.

The reality is that baseball has far, far more Hispanics than blacks. Playing baseball as a young black is like getting good grades and acting white. And we all know that is to be shunned at all costs.

Do you think this snowflake author would know a slider from the infield fly rule? Must be he got cut from his little league team.

The racism against whites, by whites, had become an epidemic of outright lies, hypocrisy and cowardice. It’s disgusting. If liberal shitheads hate themselves so damn much over their skin color, then they should just kill themselves and be done with it. At least then we’ll be free of their abject moral collapse and revolting soul filth.

As of 2015, about 30% were Hispanic. Almost the same percent were from other countries.

Also, Almost 20% of the senior executives in the MLB were BLACK!

Players are almost 10% black.

The Giants' unbearably white Johnny Cueto who, after giving up five runs in the first inning, pitched superbly from innings 2-7 for a 9-6 win over the Dodgers yesterday.

All they can talk about is race! All the time!

It is useless.

It is all victimology.

It advances nothing.

They are making the rubble bounce.

It is a zero sum game.

It is the only plank of the Democratic Party, which they ignore for most of their term.

The left is just so unnaturally focused on race as to need psychological help.

Wait, sorry. The left is so full of white hate as to be clinical.

“Last year, black players made up just over 8 percent of big-league rosters...”

I don’t know who this kid is, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. African-American players may only be at 8 percent, but black players make up a whole lot more than 8 percent.

I’m starting to feel like there is a general consensus now that being a white person is straight-up bad and I should slink around in shame and guilt.
Is anyone recording these racist columns published by sleazebag news outlets?

“... the press insisted on referring to Roberto Clemente as Bob or Bobby...”

Here again. I could be wrong, but I remember Roberto Clemente and I don’t recall ever hearing him referred to as anything but Roberto.
