Denver International Airport announced at 12:18 p.m. on Wednesday that the airport is closed until further notice.
"Weather and visibility are such that it is not safe for aircraft to arrive or depart at this time," airport officials tweeted.
Airport officials said that passengers should not plan on coming to the airport until further notice and those at the airport should stay in place because Pena Blvd. is impassable.
United Airlines canceled all remaining flights in and out of the airport ..
Soutwest Airlines also canceled all remaining flights,

Up to 12 inches of snow could fall at the airport with wind gusts of up to 46 mph.

Landing an hour ago into Phoenix Sky Harbor was a little humpity, bumpity on the descent but clear skies.
I hate flying into Denver - never a decent landing...
But. But. But.
I lived in Denver when they built DIA. We were told by Federico Pena and all involved that DIA would be and is an ALL weather airport.
Now I know Federico Pena would never have lied to us, so is this one of the contractors fault? Wellington Webb’s fault?
Or is this just another once in a 100 year storm that closes DIA every year or so.

The problem is more electrical this time. Plenty of plows but some how the snow storm knocked out power to the fuel pumps for the air planes and to the de-icer pumps.

I remember thinking when I got stuck there in a blizzard shortly after it open, “What? They didn’t realize that if they moved it to a flat plain, 25 miles outside the city that THE WIND WOULD BLOW???”
