Get a red soda cap, e.g. Coke, and put your nectar in it, in your palm.

That's how we have had luck.

That’s amazing. We did get the red soda cap, but only toward the end of season and never got anywhere. The little minis look just like our feeder ports, so I think we’ll try them.

Fortunately, we have a *regular* we've named *Squeaky* ....he comes back every year ....stops to say *hello* with his squeaking sounds[arrives B4 females]...and proceeds to guard HIS territory....my feeders...erm...um...*HIS* feeders. He has displayed for us his best mating ritual, which is amazing.

He'll come right to your face .... chirp to say hello .... he chases a laser light on the porch wall, as a cat will do.

Over the years, I've found various blinking red lights which keep him humored. For such a tiny brain, they are so very, very clever.

I thought I had more pix of handfeeding; I don't know *where* they are ;(

In case anyone has been interested in this, one of the eagle eggs at the National Arboretum is now hatching, and the parent just flew away giving a good view; she came back, but as hatching continues you’ll probably get some views of the process:
