Pretty simple. There is no reason for the GOP Senate to confirm an Obama nominee. The GOP Senate does not have to confirm another Leftist hack like Sotomayor or Kagan. If they do then I am through. LET IT BURN!

it is over....they won.this is the final nail in the coffin. they will win the election. SC rulings will make that happen. yet i have thought they would get the rulings anyway without Scalia.

This is the fight that will determine whether our republic lives or dies. This is the fight to die on and we have to win.
Ironically, Obama and Reid changed the rules in the Senate for judicial appointments so that a simple majority, not 60 votes, confirms. So even if some of the weaklings would join the Democrats to try to force a vote, only 51 against would keep it off the floor.
The other circumvention Obama could use is a recess appointment, but ironically, the SCOTUS ruled that only the Senate could declare when it is in recess, and if a couple of them stay behind and keep it in session, it would keep the recess appointment from happening.
It is a blessing that McConnell and Ryan know just how furious Republicans are about their weakness in caving to this president. That may put a little starch in their spines.
Enough with the defeatism. If they riot then we need to riot harder to oppose the nomination. This is for everything and we need to fight.
I dunno. I’m hearing Obama will have 17 days next January where he can make a lifetime recess appointment.
If they do, I predict things will get much more ugly than the GOP simply losing members.
I say leave now; I left the GOP after Rubio and the Gang of 8.
