Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, the San Antonio-Express News reported.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa, the paper reported.
According to a report, Scalia, an associate justice, arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation, the paper reported.
A federal official who asked not to be named told the paper there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes.
Scalia, the longest serving justice on the Court, was nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan. He was the first Italian-American justice.
Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement confirming Scalia’s death and calling him a “man of God, a patriot, and an unwavering defender of the written Constitution and the Rule of Law.â€
“He was the solid rock who turned away so many attempts to depart from and distort the Constitution,†the statement said. “His fierce loyalty to the Constitution set an unmatched example, not just for judges and lawyers, but for all Americans. We mourn his passing, and we pray that his successor on the Supreme Court will take his place as a champion for the written Constitution and the Rule of Law.â€
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz called Scalia a “champion of our liberties and a stalwart defender of the Constitution.â€

Good question. Meanwhile, the Senate is going to have to go on McConnell watch, to keep Yurtle the Turtle from sneaking through an Obama nominee, some Communist homosexual junkie from North Korea, to be Obola's fifth vote on guns, church abolition, and the White Problem.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia’s death.
“I was told it was this morning,” Biery said of Scalia’s death. “It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it’s pretty vague right now as to how,” he said. “My reaction is it’s very unfortunate. It’s unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we’re in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected.”
This will be the lightning rod to get out those sick and tired of the traitors who ruled on Obamacare.

Donald Trump told Mark Halperin yesterday that his sister, a federal judge, would be a "phenomenal" Supreme Court justice. He also said that "we will have to rule that out now, at least."
Vetting a person that nominates and who (especially now days with the power the legislative branch has usurped) gets to pick whom to place before the Senate to be voted on is above all the names in the book you could call me. The future of American and what my kids have to live through means you can call me whatever you want and I will still say my say (using Trump's own words).
The issues isn't exactly that Trump will pick his sister (who is as another person pointed out, is a little old). But that he would even consider someone that holds their views on abortion as a possible candidate for SCOTUS. Heck we don't even know Trump's true position on abortion (NY values one week). Of course this is from a man that also twice joked that Oprah would make a fine VP.
This is a political forum. It goes beyond having to acknowledge that Scalia was FR's darlin. He and Thomas were mine too. Heck, I hold him next to Reagan position wise myself. I have read more than my share of his opinions and loved him just as the next person here at FR did. He dared to be unPC even when talking about the harm to black students in colleges a few weeks ago. He will be so very missed, but Judge Antonin also knew the value of fighting for America takes no breaks, even before a person gets cold his wiki page has been vandalized several times. He above all knew the importance his position held in a Ghoul and Creepy world.

I hope to God that your scenario does not happen. I have also worried that Government Zer0 would manipulate a civil incident that will justify Martial Law. Perhaps ISIS has an EMP nuke in the U.S.—any number of scenarios to worry about. We are like in a car during commuter traffic. We don’t know if we will get home or get wiped out.
