Maybe they didn't shape modern comedy, but both are still hilarious. John Candy deserves a mention, so he's getting it here. RIP John Candy...gone too soon.

I didn't find him funny, just foul. Anyone that I could think of that ever made me laugh, was mentioned in the article.

"Uncle Buck" and "My Uncle Vinnie," still make me laugh every time. I consider them classics.

If you ever get a chance, see "Ruggles of Red Gap." It is with Charles Laughton from 1935. Classic American comedy.
