scientists working at the University of Chicago and the Argonne National Laboratory revealed that they were able to create quantum entanglement at a macroscopic level at room temperature on a semiconductor chip, using atomic nuclei and the application of relatively small magnetic fields.
Their breakthrough, which is published in Science Advances, is not only significant in what they accomplished but also how they accomplished it. In quantum physics, the creation of entanglement in particles larger and more complex than photons usual requires temperature to be cooled to near absolute zero and also requires the use of powerful magnetic fields.
Researchers were able to accomplish this latest feat by using infrared laser light to order the magnetic states of electrons and nuclei. After which, electromagnetic pulses were used to entangle them. This resulted in entangled pairs of electrons and nuclei within a macroscopic 40 cubic micrometer volume (around the size of a red blood cell) in a semiconductor.

Thank you
The first ones will be human/cyborg hybrids.
Elated I believe. This means that eventually we will be able to send information instantaneously from one point to the other regardless of distance. Speed of light no longer applies. No lag Time to the Moon, Mars, Pluto, Andromeda Galaxy......the other end of the universe. As long as you get one of those entangled pairs over there anyway. In computing it will make computation time faster by many orders of magnitude.
Bill Clinton is dead?
Terrified. This means that gibsmmedats in parallel universes can now cash checks written by the govt in this one, so your taxes will have to be increased accordingly. If you object, you must be some kind of greedy racist one percenter or something.
“They observed whatâs outside our universe. They peeked through the boundary of physics. They will now have to die, err, excuse me, meet untimely deaths and suicides.”
No, but they did get a nice note from Professor Lovecraft of Miskatonic University that he and a Dr. Cthulu would like to come for dinner.
Once more, we ignore the warnings of our forefathers .
The old "higher dimensions" ploy would explain "spooky actions at a distance".
The entangled particles in some sense remain right next to each other, even as they’re separated in what we think of as space and time.
But the connection between the particles may be something other than the hyperdimensional spaces we’ve imagined.
I’m always afraid to check on my cat when he’s in the covered litter box.
I got into a quantum entanglement with a woman some years ago. Still paying for it too.
Now that the scientists have met a grant milestone the booze, hookers and party guests are secure for the next few years.
But the connection between the particles may be something other than the hyperdimensional spaces we've imagined.
Either we have higher dimensions which "short circuit" distance and time as they appear to us in our reference frame or we don't have a good handle on what distance and time really are on their most fundamental level.
Our mental constructs and measurements of them could be more of an illusion than not, brought about because of the spacial and temporal reference frame we are tied to, locked in to.
Just don't stand near the thing. Oh wait...
Like quantum mechanics, we'd have a cook book for it, but it wouldn't make common sense.
And it may take a new type of mathematics.
But I bet the human race comes up with a solution, as long as we don't destroy ourselves in the meantime!
How are those of us less well educated in the sciences supposed to know whether this is gobbledygook or real science? It almost sounds like parody.
Who is going to untie you from that entanglement when you GET to the other end of the universe?
Well Duh!... the Maitre’d at the ‘Restaurant at the End of the Universe’!
