Ted Cruz's claims about CNN are 'false'

The controversy stems from a CNN scoop that was broadcast Monday night, minutes before the Iowa caucuses began. Reporter Chris Moody received information from the Carson campaign that he would be taking a break from the campaign trail after Iowa.

Moody, and the other CNN reporters who followed up on the report, said Carson would continue campaigning after taking a break at home in Florida. His next stop, they said, would be Washington, D.C., for the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.

During CNN's live coverage, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash called the move "very unusual," but said nothing about Carson dropping out of the race.

Somewhere along the way, the story got twisted. Cruz campaign aides alerted supporters in Iowa that Carson might be a goner. Before long there were allegations that the Cruz campaign had suppressed Carson's vote total by spreading rumors that Carson was giving up on the race.

Shortly after the CNN report came out, Carson's campaign downplayed the significance, saying the candidate needed a fresh set of clothes. Meanwhile, political analysts generally agreed with Tapper and Bash's assessment that it was unusual for a presidential candidate to not rush to New Hampshire. Virtually all of Carson's rivals hurried to New Hampshire after the caucuses.

The next morning, Carson's side started lambasting Cruz for "dirty tricks." This prompted a half-apology from Cruz that pointed a finger at CNN.

I am a fan of Dr. Carson. Sent him a nice sum of money when he spoke the truth about jihadists. But if he wants to be in politics he has to get a thicker skin and be willing to fight for what he believes in. I still like him but he is not ready for what the Clinton organization is gonna bring.

“Mark Levin tonight was ridiculing Carson, his campaign and his supporters for thinking this is a big deal.”

He should. Carson is a whiner. Really disappointing, since I’ve had so much respect for him, to see him acting so childish.

Perhaps Cruz did wrong perhaps not but Carson should have gotten out anyway. Along with the rest of these guys who are stumbling along. Numbers in the single digits.

Could be any of those. When Trump started with the psycho crap Carson was at about 30% in Iowa. His average in the polls was about 7.5%. He got 9.3% of the vote. I like Dr. Carson a lot but neither he nor his campaign is ready for what the left will throw at him in a general election.

So the ends justify the means? How very socialist.

Yeah, I heard your guy has cooties.

Sheesh, the long knives are out for Cruz. Repube-ican establishment types, the rich guy with the funky hair, the lamestream media? Who knows.

I heard some gal on Limbaugh saying Cruz is creepy because he beats Jesus fish, or something. I’m still a Cruz guy, until he shoots puppies like skeet, on live TV, while screaming that he hates America, pickup trucks and country music.

Technicality. If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, and tantrums like a duck, it’s probably Donald Trump

So, Mark. I guess Ben Carson is NOT the most “ethical, decent, and has the most personal integrity” of any candidate in the race. And dirty pool is fine as long as it’s St. Ted The Righteous and Protector of Denmark that does it.

I would make a YouTube video featuring all these “conservative Media voices” tap-dancing their merry way along working both sides of the street like a French hooker - Except no one could stomach seeing Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, or any of the rest of ‘em, dance.

I always turn to CNN to get to the truth of a matter.

NOT.

Good point.

So why did the Cruz people have so much faith in the accuracy of CNN reporting that they didn't feel that it was necessary to confirm the rumor with the Carson campaign?

CNN conveniently leaves out the other tweets by Moody. If you think CNN is deceptive now, just wait until the general begins.

Somewhere along the way, the story got twisted. Cruz campaign aides alerted supporters in Iowa that Carson might be a goner.

Cruz's campaign initially alerted its folks using words very similar to CNN's. That makes the quoted assertion an abject lie.

People, look at the specific words, not the MSM spin.

The only person who should be at risk here is the individual who "confirmed" that Carson was out (and I cannot at this point confirm he is with the Cruz campaign). This is a media manufactured crisis.

Trump as a citizen cannot use eminent domain, and the woman kept her house and continued to live in it. Your implication was wrong on two points.

Dear Jake Tapper;

Why millions of Americans hate you and the main stream media.

You take a story (scoop) of a candidate "taking a break" and you know by reporting a non-event that YOU are making an allusive or oblique remark, at a minimum being suggestive that Carson is dropping out, and then like a little child sit there and say . . . don't blame me, its not my fault, I did not say that. If its not important, then why did you say anything at all?

Grow up and man up for once in your life. Oh I forgot. Too late for you to man up.
