Boston (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boston is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, that achieved their most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s. Centered on guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Tom Scholz, the band is a staple of classic rock radio playlists.[1] Boston's best-known works include the songs "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock and Roll Band", "Smokin'", "Don't Look Back", and "Amanda". They have sold over 31 million albums in the United States, of which 17 million were from their self-titled debut album and seven million were for its second album, Don't Look Back.[2][3] Altogether, the band has released six studio albums.

A great band and a great album. I’m a Gen Xer, and I like Boston.

I was a junior in high school when Boston released their first album. I must have gone through a dozen cassettes listening to their music.

It was a great time in my life.

“On March 9, 2007, lead singer Brad Delp committed suicide at his home in Atkinson, New Hampshire.[30] Police found Delp dead in his master bathroom, along with several notes for whoever would find him.[30] In the bathroom where Delp committed suicide, two charcoal grills were found on the bathroom fixtures, and the door sealed with duct tape and a towel underneath.[30]

Police Lt. William Baldwin called the death “untimely” and said that no foul play was indicated.[31] Delp was alone at the time of his death, according to the police report. Delp was found by his fiancée, who saw a dryer hose attached to his car.[30] According to the New Hampshire medical examiner, Delp’s death was the result of suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning as evidenced by carboxyhemoglobin.[30] Delp’s last concert with Boston was performed at Boston Symphony Hall on November 13, 2006, at a concert honoring Doug Flutie. ...”

No finer college vacation memories than driving from Annapolis to Boston in my Firstiemobile (sporty car that all midshipmen buy with a sick 1.00% loan from USAA at the end of junior year) CRANKING this (ok, CD... I’m only 42 for pete’s sake)
Was it the car? The hometown girlfriends? The full head of hair?? NO— it was the music, man.

This below was the first album I bought after buying my first ever stereo system back in the mid to late 70s. I could not believe how great music sounded on a quality stereo system. Up until then I only had a small radio and portable mono cassette player. It was especially amazing listening to this album with Koss headphones. The drum rolls seemed to go through my head from one side to the other. I bought the (Kenwood) system at Crazy Eddie's.
