A hospital! What is it?!
I'm going to have to check it out.
I love Airplane, but Kentucky Fried is where it all started for them. I actually like it best.
“I Take it black - like my men.” I don’t think a gag like this would make it in a movie today.

I think Mel Brooks would be indicted if he tried to make “Blazing Saddles” today.
Great funny line & movie, very much appreciated thread to take mind off things.

Even though Richard Pryor wrote a lot of it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. What’s going on back there?
I think Police Squad was a film version of Naked Gun.
Blazing Saddles/Airplane/(Monty python’s) The Holy Grail on a continuous loop, with bourbon and cigars, I could spend a week. No serious politics, poor immigrants, rising sea levels, or giant sea creatures trying to eat me. My blood pressure would drop 50 points.
Nope. Police Squad! came first, but was a huge flop on TV and only lasted about 6 episodes. The Naked Gun was a theatrical release "From the files of Police Squad" and came later. It was successful enough to spawn a couple of sequels.
The first episode of Police Squad! is based on a specific episode of M-Squad. For some reason, the "Airplane" style humor doesn't work well on TV. Take a look at Angie Tribeca sometime.
The new show Angie Tribeca has the same style of humor. I love it!
Police Squad was brilliant - all the big name guest stars would die during the opening credits.
Surprised I haven’t seen my favorite quote that someone always manages to bring up... Even in mixed company...
“Say Billy, ya like movies about gladiators?”
Have y’all seen this....

Yep. I had it exactly backwards.
You made me laugh so hard with your post. I don’t know why it was so hilarious, but dealing with these stupid formatting issues on FR and being a huge Airplane! fan, I just lost it for a long time. Thank you, needed that.
One of the funniest moments in my professional life. I worked for a judge. I took some papers into her and said, “Judge, what do you make of this?” She replied with Johnny’s line. Priceless. I thought I was going to laugh myself to death.
Tuco says there are two kinds of people in the world...those with a rope around their necks and those who do the cutting.
