Was a local, left 5 years ago when I retired.
I can tell you right now; Whittier Boulevard ain’t what it used to be.

Left North OC in 1968. The story is 6th St. and my local comment was to see who knew that Whittier Blvd. turned into 6th St.

Sad to see the Bridge go. Drive by it all the time.

My parents moved to Normandy near Hollywood Blvd. in 1955. My brother and I took our mother to their old apartment last month in December 2015: clean, felt safe and still a nice location. I talked to a local city planner last week about Normandy and Hollywood area. He said the area has an average income of $100K and the young people there “like a gritty feel to the neighborhood.” After the trip to Normandy we prayed and purchased gifts at Holy Angels church near Gower, the cloistered monastery for Dominican nuns. They sell fudge that goes great with coffee.
