Donald Trump says he won't appear at the upcoming debate on FOX if Megyn Kelly is a moderator, and as of this writing, it appears she will be. Some of you asked me how this move by Trump could possibly be a smart thing.

I will predict two things:
First, if Ted Cruz simply states that he supports Donald J Trump, at tonight’s debates and then walks off the stage, he ends up second with maybe 25% of the vote.
Second, If Ted Cruz stays for the debate, he comes in under 10% and kills himself politically.
Ted Cruz should have heeded Donald’s advice and gotten a Supreme Court Ruling that he is a national born citizen, that would have left the door open for him to be VP, but now, with that and by staying at tonight s Donald Bash Festival, he closes that door too and destroys his aspirations to be Governor of Texas.
If you’re betting on your predictions I’ll take the flip side.
Ted will NOT walk off.
Ted will break even with Rubio in the debate.
It would be a mistake to take the bait and seek a court ruling on a matter that no serious constitutional scholar questions.
Really? Trump is being a bully. Anyone who doesn’t put him on a pedestal is slammed and called names. I want to see a real debate of issues and Trump doesn’t want to play.
Ted Cruz is my guy and if Trump attacks him, I will not vote for Trump. This fighting is costing Trump votes.

After seeing the pix of Kelly buddying up to Michael Moore, one of the most truly vulgar human beings of all time, I am rethinking that Trump may be right about Megyn/FNC.
Perhaps, but he is perceived by many as 'our bully'.
Trump’s gotten into Kelly’s head and messed up all her synapses. Her Michal Moore stunt was as brilliant as Republican running in a Chicago election against Rhambo would be if he found the local Kleagle of the Klan and brought him onto the stage in full regalia to denounce Rhambo.
Trump is not afraid of a girl silly. Think. Trump is afraid of Cruz and the rest scoring points in debate. If you do not enter ring, you do not get hit. You do not lose votes. Brilliant strategy.

Fox news thought they had Donald Trump boxed in and even made VERY sneering remarks about him in a press release. He called their bluff. They thought there is no way he can now back out of this debate.... they were very wrong...again. Donald Trump wrong footed them.... again. They need Donald in the debate he does not need them.
So Trump’s scared of a bimbo? He only skips out on something when the odds aren’t in his favor. Sometimes you have to attempt to solve problems when the odds aren’t in your favor. There’s not always an easy win. The odds are against America on the world stage. Will Trump capitulate on important problems just to make it look like a win? I think his narcissism makes him fear from ever losing and that’s a fatal flaw for a President.
Sigh.

Unfortunately, waiting for Trump to stumble has been Ted Cruz's strategy all along. Clearly Cruz is the superior candidate, but his campaign has chosen old tactics of touting himself and then using negative attacks. Donald Trump is an expert populist and a celebrity who has controlled and defined this election cycle. Cruz wins the battles, but Trump owns the battlefield.
The odds haven’t been in his favor for any of the debates. He has been the target of all of the moderator, and most of the candidates since debate #1.
That’s not to mention the thousands of hits he’s taken in the pre and post debate shows and liberal pundits.
He’s constantly been raked over the coals by his own party elitists.
He’s playing MeGYN and Fox News like a Stradivarius.
Presidential debates are relatively new to the US political scene (coinciding with the rollout of radio and television, in my opinion).
Republican candidate Wendell Willkie challenged President Franklin D. Roosevelt to a debate in 1940, but Roosevelt refused.
The first general election presidential debate was held on September 26, 1960, between U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy, the Democratic nominee, and Vice President Richard Nixon.
General election debates were not held for the elections of 1964, 1968 and 1972, although intra-party debates were held during the primaries between Democrats Robert F. Kennedy and Eugene McCarthy in 1968 and between Democrats George McGovern and Hubert Humphrey in 1972.

Ron Paul did not participate in the most recent debate, and none of the candidates are required to participate.
