You’d probably break a tooth on that Topps bubble gum.

wouldn’t mind having the P-38.

I have one my father kept from when he was in the Navy during Korea on my key ring. It is useful.

My son gets it when I'm done with it.

Ham & Eggs was the worst, but lucky for me I had a squad leader that liked the stuff and would always trade me.

I have successfully quit after my 23rd attempt to stop smoking

**********************************************

That is about how many tries it took me. I started smoking at age 12 and quit at age 62. I figured after 50 years of smoking, I was pushing my luck. I’m 70 now.

Started at 12, now almost 48. Better late than never.

When I quit, I didn’t go all “holier than thou, smoke Nazi”about it. I still have ash trays and if any smoker friends drop in, they are welcome to smoke in my house but many of my friends have quit too.

That describes me too.

We know all too well how hard it is to quit, don’t we?

The fed us Korean War era C-Rations when I was in Viet Nam in 1965. Ham & Lime Beans was my favorite. Most guys hated them so I could always swap what I didn't for them

Had an English prof in college who smokes Wings, and she could find WWii packs and would smoke them ... and that was in the mid sixties!

Nicotine addiction is one of the worst.

I was a chain-smoker and a stress-smoker. There was a time (read many years) when I smoked FIVE PACKS a day.

It took me six years or so just to reduce that to one pack a day.

I smoke from 15 until my son was born. Didn't light up again for several years. Started back when I changed employment and had to travel a lot. Smoking in the car was a comforting time passer. Stopped again after first marriage ended. Started again with second wife and quit for good with that divorce. I enjoyed it and if it didn't cause emphysema and lip, mouth, throat and lung diseases I would be right back at it.

Had an oncologist once tell me that smokers who drink lots of sweet carbo drinks and smoke and those drinking mixed drinks or straight booze have a great increase in throat cancers due to the mucus lining being degraded and the carcinogens getting to the underlying tissues. Also papilloma virus has easier access to the underlying tissues ...

I'm seventy. Been stopped now twelve years and miss it some.

There were piles of them on the ground when Pops used to take me hunting in the impact area there.

In Vietnam I was eating C’s 4 years older than I was. I loved them, especially when the Army transitioned to LRP’s. Several years later some airmen gave me MRE’s. Still prefer C’s. But MRE’s are far superior to LRPs.

I liked Ham and Limas. Had a hard time getting down those sliced boiled spuds but ate them anyway.
Did not like the spaghetti either.

A good thing about the main entrees being canned was that if a vehicle or a generator was available you can crack the lid and use the engine heat to warm them up. I guess MRE pouches might melt.

The pound cake was the best thing in C-rats. Also liked any of the fruits since you good drink the juice they were canned in.
