I’ve been a Colts fan since 1971 and I don’t want him to go. The problems aren’t his fault.

See Post #14. He didn’t buy the Dallas Cowboys because he thinks he can run it as a winning team. He bought it as a toy. It should also be remembered that the value of an NFL franchise usually rises without any regard to how successful the team is on the field ... so Jerry Jones is a smart businessman even if the Cowboys go 2-12 every year for a decade.

Troof. Also, the money Jerry makes from JerryWorld dwarfs what he makes with the Cowboys. I cover the Baylor-Tech game there every year, and the odd bowl game. Amazes me the number of people buying $9 beer. $75 to park at a Cowboys game, $40 for college games, plus concerts all over the place.

Jones is a brilliant businessman, but he's like Little Bill in Unforgiven. He ain't no carpenter.

Yes, yes, we know. Romo. In 5 seasons Garrett has had pretty much the same team, with addition of one more lineman every year.

I think if you brought in a top tier coach, this current team would be in the championship game every year.

Except if DMC starts every game (coach’s fault) he IS the NFL rushing leader this year. And I watched two teams (Denver and Cincy) play the other night with backup QBs and were just fine. And Texans won with Dallas’s (fired) backup QB, and Ravens won with much less talent and backup QB. At some point, it’s not just missing Romo that’s the problem.

I don’t think theres help for that team as long as the current owner stays the owner.

Agree. Garrett is terrible. Last year he was carried by a great team, but 8-8 is his norm.

Care to elaborate on why last years great team wasnt great this year? I mean, if the coach was the same, shouldnt the team been the same?

Cowboys, since Jimmy left, have gone top heavy on front line players and filled out with guys they picked up from the loading dock at Walmart. When they let Murray walk, then Romo and Bryant got injured, that was about 75% of their offense. They can't identify talent very well or coach up. Romo covered up a lot of the offensive deficiencies. He's right at the end of his career now, with way too many injuries to run around like he has in the past, and there's no one on the horizon to pick up the slack.

well I’m sure he knew a lot about the oil business. A lot more than football which he knows nothing about obviously. And maybe that’s how he got away with it there. Making his own decisions weren’t as dangerous

Speaking of Harbaugh, would Indy possibly try to woo him away from Michigan?

They might - but it's not going to work. Harbaugh is a great fit at Michigan - and at Michigan he doesn't have to put up with Irsay's crap.

Maybe, but I doubt Harbaugh would leave his alma mater after only one season. I'd give it another year or two - I don't think there's any doubt that Harbaugh will be back in the NFL, but not yet.

Harbaugh would be a great fit with any college program or NFL franchise that values winning over such things as kissing up to the owner - unfortunately for me and other 49ers season ticket owners, the 49ers are no longer such a team.

difference is Woody changed; brought in a potentially good GM, admitted his mistake in letting Revis go and the Jets are one game away from 11 wins...

Don’t the Colts still have an outside chance to win the division and they are talking about firing the coach? Heck they played the AFC championship game in New England last year with a healthy Andrew Luck. Pagano does not deserve to be fired.

And they usually know nothing about how to manage a professional sports franchise.

See Alex Spanos.

best thing that can happen to coach pagano is to become disassociated with irsay. he should have no trouble finding another nfl head coaching job.

That failed fake punt this season didn’t do him any favors.
