That is profoundly true. I’ve worked around lots of liberals for many years and was constantly amazed at how easily they ignore reality. Its also a reason why you simply cannot reason with them. They never step outside their ideological fantasy world.

Yep Their DNA has been altered by years of left wing schooling and associating with nobody but other like minded fools

Yet they gladly spout economic growth because of gun sales!

No.

It’s straw only if the recipient is ineligible to purchase him-or-herself.

He would be even more flabbergasted if he knew how many Americans are willing to use them to defend their freedom against statist tyrants.

They have cause and effect reversed.

This would be the equivalent of not understanding why, the more the flood waters rise, the more people buy boats and lifejackets.
(because they assume boats and lifejackets cause flooding)

President Barack Obama's spokesman Josh Not-Earnest said on Thursday that the White House is flabbergasted by the record number of Americans seeking to buy guns in recent weeks.

They are either lying or complete idiots if they don't understand this. Actually I think it is both. They are idiots, and they are lying about this. They are not "flabbergasted" by this at all. However they'll say that as if the notion of buying a firearm should be completely foreign and out of the norm. It is just message/spin. Lying POS fascists.

Because Josh Earnest is standing in the White House with the White House logo behind him, and because he holds the title of Press Secretary and says ‘the president believes X and the president says Y and the president did Z,’ it’s easy to be deceived into believing that Josh Earnest actually is speaking for the president and expressing the president’s views.

But the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming, starting with the president himself. Whatever you think of Obama, and Lord knows we don’t think much, it is well-documented that his workdays are laughably short. Even his admirers, courtiers, et al admit that 10:30 is an early start for Obama and that they have difficulty in distracting him from ESPN and televised sporting events to discuss crucial matters. His frequent trips away from the Oval Office for fundraising and golf with some brief speechmaking to justify the use of Air Force One are also a matter of record.

As many have observed, Obama wanted the office but not the job.

Also well-known is the plight of Earnest’s predecessor, Jay Carney. Carney trotted out his fatuous deadpan pronouncements every day but it was common knowledge that he was shut out of virtually all important discussions, strategy sessions, etc. because he was not a member of the Chicago-heavy Inner Circle.

Carney was hand-picked. Earnest is simply an understudy, brought in to take the show to the merciful closing date.

It is, therefore, a virtual certainty that Josh Earnest is simply expressing his own point of view under the rubric of officialdom. He and the press have a symbiotic relationship that is of no real benefit in terms of new information or practical result to anyone else anywhere in the world. The briefings are a hollow, repetitive pantomime; a taxpayer-funded MSNBC rant session at the ideological target du jour (Trump, guns, Trump, guns, Trump, guns etc. etc.)

This is not governance. This is not even party politics vis-a-vis electoral advancement (as the Democrats’ ongoing implosion demonstrates). This is simply the airing of grievances and reinforcement of grudges by mouthpieces who hope you don’t notice (and most haven’t) that in 7+ years of moaning about the same things their boss has done absolutely naff all to correct or address them.

The liberals I have the burden of working with not only ignore reality as in cause and effect but the “nicer” ones become very condescending towards anyone who disagrees with their fantasy, the others become loud and belligerent.

Here in PA, as with many states, I can purchase a (non-NFA) long gun, privately, without ATF4473, and gift it to someone else, without it being a ‘straw purchase’, as long as a Bill of Sale accompanies the transaction.

I wonder if Rahm Emmanuel has finished “not letting a crisis go to waste” in Chicago? Aren’t his African-American constituents calling for his immediate resignation over the cover-up of video of the killing? It is high time African-Americans woke up to the real truth of their beloved Democrat Party.

You can purchase it from the store with paperwork and gift it as well. Still not a straw purchase.

Here’s an interesting anecdote.

More people drank alcohol DURING prohibition than before or after.

Barack declares ‘War on Guns’, unilateral action & they wonder why gun sales are at all time high.

They’re playing to their own supporters, who are the clueless ones.

Like that writer from the New Republic article (on another thread) who called for all guns to be banned.

I’ve encountered a LOT of little special snowflakes like her, courtesy of Facebook and other social media. They really do think that most people agree with them and the vast majority of gun owners will voluntarily give up their guns if ordered to. While the rest can be bullied and shamed into doing so using the same tactics to stiffle free speech and dissent on college campuses.

And nothing, nothing I’ve tried in terms of explaining reality to them has any impact.

They work constantly to gerrymander districts, bribe the poor for votes, create entire urban voter fraud factories, hold the backdoor open at the polls for foreigners, cheat, lie, and steal, and then they are SHOCKED to learn that the actual population thinks they are morons!

Brilliant.

Like all liberals, they refuse to consider basic human behavior and continue trying to force that behavior into their agenda.

One more time, Josh, it’s called self defense.
