The FBI may not have real-time access via the NSA either.
The more socialist, the more the state becomes your master not your servant and the more they want information to create control... its pretty much that simple... communism is about controling the means of production, and they cant make up rules that everyone will follow, so they need lots more information... however, in a free market system, your rules are a framework and you dont seek to control, so you dont need that information.

Typically a burner phone is paid for in cash and the authorities have no way of requesting the info from the phone companies.
Perhaps such or similar problem.
(Don’t know if there was or is another way to that info)
Also the USA freedom act limited the number of ‘hops’ that could be examined.
Quite probable that FOX is misreporting of course, but if not I’d like to know what the problem is and see it solved.

Actually, they do. They know that phone is registered on their network, maybe not by who, but the number is known and so is every call that phone makes and the cell towers the phone used so the location is also known.

The NSA has never followed the law. Not once. They won’t be following this metadata law either. They didn’t build those data facilities just to send everyone home.
