(VANITY) Hey if anyone's interested, I'm on Jeopardy! right now

Posted on 11/30/2015 4:10:08 PM PST by CaliGirlGodHelpMe

This was taped September 29th. Don't judge too harshly, I was lucky to make it to the studio! After all these years of watching Jeopardy and yelling at the TV, "Who let THAT idiot on here!?" now it's my turn to have them yell it at me! :D

Yeah, a couple of people have told me that she looked horribly nervous. It paid off for her, I guess. Maybe if I had been more keyed up I would have won.

Saw you. I think you did very well. And I know it’s quite a challenge to reach the level of being a contestant.

Well, you did well except when you told that pompous Trebec that he’s handsome. :)

(Seriously, though, I loathe that guy.)

I seriously doubt that anyone will ever top the testosterone-challenged Blitzer’s epic fail.

I think you are referring to Ken Jennings. Read his book, and I must say that it was well-written. What a little jerk he is, though.

The guy who has surpassed Jennings in winnings, Brad Rutter, seems like such a nice guy.

(BTW, I thought Jennings was all-time champ, but I looked it up on Wikipedia:

People think because he can read questions that he is the keep of the knowledge. But some of us remember his days with the lovely Ruta Lee on High Rollers.

Lol! I can honestly say that I remember no such show. But someone should torment him with that photograph mercilessly.

Oh. Sorry. I figured from the thread it was on yesterday and, sure enough, when I started watching it last night, it matched the description from CaliGirl.

CaliGirl...thanks for the heads-up yesterday on this thread. I really felt like I had a personal connection to the episode with you in the hot-seat. The poor woman to your left! I thought she was going to mash the buzzer button to bits if she first didn’t have a stroke.

You did great. Too bad you didn’t make it to the next round, but I’m sure you had a lot of fun.

The Final Jeopardy question initially stumped me, but then I thought the Constitutional Convention was written in summer 1787 and it took a year to ratify it, so the election was held in 1789. That’s a lot to put together quickly under the countdown clock.

I looked it up in Wikipedia and found it interesting that the first quadrennial presidential election was held from Monday, December 15, 1788 to Saturday, January 10, 1789. I didn’t realize the first election lasted about 3-1/2 weeks! Note that it BEGAN in an even year, 1788. I suppose you could therefore argue that we’ve NEVER had an election in an odd year. I wonder what the judges would have said about that?

Now, don’t be hatin’ on Alex. I actually think he’s a pretty cool guy.

I’m so glad you caught it. That’s very interesting about the election. But I suspect they wouldn’t have let me get away with it if I wrote, “Never” as my FJ answer.

It sure would have been a unique answer, though. That’s one arcane bit of info probably one in a million knows. I’d never run across that before.

If I were loaded with money, it might have been fun to write that down and argue the point with them. But...

I’ll guess we’ll have to agree to disagree....

As I said, I thought you did great.
