UPDATE: Sinead O'Connor is reportedly "safe and sound" and receiving medical assistance, according to Irish police.
A distressing update appeared on Sinead O'Connor's Facebook page on Sunday (Nov. 29). The status, which comes from her verified Facebook page and appears to have been written by the singer-songwriter, includes the sentence, "I have taken an overdose" and reads like a possible suicide note. She added she is staying at a hotel room in Ireland under a different name.
Over the past 24 hours, there have been a series of disturbing posts on her Facebook, stemming from a battle with Irish folk musician Donal Lunny, the father of her youngest son, Shane, whom the singer alleges needs psychological treatment and Lunny wonât allow her to see him.

I respect her talent and her devotion to Christ.
I’m very challenged by her rationalizations of her personal choices all the while proclaiming Christ.
Jennifer Knapp is another example.
Extraordinarily talented Christian artist that disappeared for a few years only to re-surface and proclaim that she is a lesbian.
I don’t get it.
I feel sorry for her - her parents were terrible, self-obsessed people from all accounts. She was in and out of fostercare. Her mother was an alcoholic who died when O'Connor was 19 and it's obvious that her inability ever to reconcile with her mother in any way was painful for her.
She clearly has a very low opinion of herself: if she's not in the news she feels like she doesn't exist.
She has history of this stuff: praising the Provisional IRA after they assassinated a married couple, ripping the picture, claiming to be a lesbian then changing her mind, refusing to sing at any venue if the Star Spangled Banner was played, claiming to have been ordained a priest, and on and on.
She has had four failed marriages, four children by four different men who she's had fraught relationships with, drug problems, hospitalizations, multiple different religious conversions.
She's also burned bridges with multiple musical collaborators, labels, agents, etc.
She is a mental, spiritual, emotional, physical and professional mess who has, in large part, wasted a prodgious talent.
No, she tore up the picture of the Pope because she blamed the Church for her parents’ unhappy marriage. Everything is always, 100%, about her.
I enjoyed that skit, lol. That was, to me, a good era of SNL.
Ripping up a picture of the current pope would actually be a positive.
So?
All that said, she isn’t stupid.
Conflicted? Yes, but stupid? No.
Attention seeker? Maybe.
I rather like this one.

She has been troubled for some time, and has tremendous animosity towards the Catholic Church. I assumed she knew 1 or more persons that had been abused by a priest. Also wondered if she herself had been abused as a child.
“Bald Faced....”
Princess Bipolar
Sad case of a troubled person. We all need guidance from a higher power and only the Lord can touch and heal at the same time. “Like a bird without a song.” The tear rolling down her cheek in her 1990 “Nothing Compares” video could heal most people except herself. Pitiful.
Too bad she's so crazy. I thought her insights into Miley Cyrus recently were on point.
There hasn’t been a cover up. It’s been well known since the 70’s. Several movies, scattered TV series episodes.
It was indifference by everybody but the victims.
Really, nothing more need be said.
I’m such a rotten horrible mother and Person....

Well, at least, she has gained some insight.
Well said.
For what it’s worth.
Turn the lights down and grab a glass of wine.
And listen to the full album.
