PERFECT CHRISTMAS? UMAREX STEEL FORCE

I was not allowed to have a BB gun when I was a kid. This might be because my best friend did have a BB gun, and by the time I was six, I'd already proven myself to be incompetent. I took a pot shot at a squirrel sitting on a patio and ended up shattering a sliding glass door. After that, there was no way my mother would let me play with guns.

Look at me now. When you try to keep your kids from playing with guns, they end up going to the dark side.

But this is not about me. I'm here today to preach the faith. Teach your kids about guns. Teach them about BB guns. And if you're serious about the process, get them a serious BB gun.

My sister and I had that treatment. Not with firearms because we lived in Brooklyn, NY, but anything else.

I broke the bedroom window with an arrow after it ricochet off the swing set. LoL. Good thing I had witnesses, or I would have gotten in a lot more trouble.

That bb-gun is enough to get a stupid kid killed.

Train your kids in gun safety and etiquette, folks.

I love pellet rifles and if you can afford them, there's some serious PCP's out there that will make you drool.....

I'm a firm believer that in a SHTF scenario, a must have food provider would be a .22 cal. pellet rifle. For about $9 you can get a tin of 500 pellets and feed your family on rabbits, squirrels, raccoons and even possum if you're really hungry........LOL!

And on rainy days, you can set up a pellet trap in your basement and shoot all afternoon long........

I was thinking the same thing. I hate to be paranoid but with liberals infecting every aspect of our lives and very much formerly good judgement of people, I would not risk giving this to my child without heavy supervision.

Time was I could be set loose in the woods to do whatever with my co2 rifle. That thing was a beast and accurate as anything, I constantly took up challenges to shoot twigs off branches at a distance and won.

The one thing I did hunt down and kill was a massive poisonous snake with a viper head opinion our pond, never did ID it beyond the triangle head. I got it, though. That thing scared the crap out of me.

As much fun as that gun is for a kid, there are too many places in this Obamanation that might get the kid blown away by trigger happy cops.

All grade school kids need to be schooled in guns, gun safety, gun related laws. I had this back in the 50’s in Kansas.

Responsible parents should learn and teach their kids.

One advantage is that it won’t work without CO2 cartridges. Can kids buy those at the store? Obviously you need to teach the kid that it could be mistaken for a real gun.

Some pretty realistic looking/operating BB guns out there. In my youth, we would have played “army” with them. Today, you’d be putting your life in danger waving some of these around in public.

Yes, Co2 cartridges can be purchased by anyone but now a days they're used by bicyclists who need a quick fill for a flat tire...........

I have a hand held CO2 quick fill that I use to top off my volleyballs...........

Not sure,I have a bunch of (costly) hobbies. So,I will have my head in one for awhile, than revert back to a different one for a time.I haven’t paid too much attention to the air rifles for awhile, been kind of ensconced in my knife collection for the time being. But that will chage,it always does.

Set aside the cost of a PCP rifle that I may wish to purchase, what are the necessary additional items I will need to service that rifle and what are the estimated costs?

For the rifle,practically nothing,a few “O” rings. BUT,you need a tank to fill from,well not technically,but practically.
A hand pump will work, but you would be too tired to shoot.
You can buy scuba tanks fairly cheap, but they are limited in their PSI,so you don’t get a lot of fills off of them, but that’s how I started out.
A carbon fiber wrapped “air hog” tank is the way to go,if you can afford it,much smaller than a scuba tank, plus many more fill, given the level of PSI you can fill them to.
My recommendation would be the scuba tank, inexpensive and you still can get a good number of refills out of it.Downside is if you are going places,it’s a little bulky to take along, but not bad.
What rifle has your fancy?
That Swedish air gun company, name escapes me now,has one with an intergal pump in the forearm,so you could fill at home,be out, take 5 or 6 shots, give a few pumps on the forearm and be right back at full pressure.
