For me it came down to a few basic things. First, I do NOT like having a built in "advertising id" on my PC even though I can turn that off, and second I really didn't like the nagging sliders that kept showing up even after I configured Windows 10 to stop leaking data.
I'm not a noob, I've been an I.T. Professional since 1985. I think Windows 10 from a speed, efficient use of resources and stability perspective is an *excellent* O/S. There's much to like about it.
I just do not like Microsoft turning my desktop into their own advertising platform and monetizing the hell out of me/attempting to monetize the hell out of me.
I've gone back to Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell for my basic work/productivity and my amateur radio software needs. For everything else I use Linux and I'm happy that way.
