Waffle House waitress shot, killed after telling customer not to smoke

A woman working the overnight shift at a Biloxi Waffle House was shot and killed early Friday morning, and police say it was all over a cigarette.

Investigators say an argument erupted when a waitress told a customer he couldn't smoke inside the restaurant. Johnny Mount, 45, refused to put out his cigarette, pulled out a handgun he had concealed under his shirt, and shot the woman once in the head.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the 52-year-old woman was taken to Merit Health Biloxi where she later died from her injuries.

Mount was arrested as he was leaving the restaurant, and charged with 1st degree murder. He's now being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bond.

After being taunted and maced by the lady judge sitting at a table, he shoots her then the cook who comes at him with a frying pan. With the waitress looking at him and dropping her coffee pot, he wounds her as she runs out the door into the snow. She falls and he executes her to the back of the head. Just after that, he gets hit by a car driven by the butcher's wife and flies through the windshield, not to die immediately but later in their garage. Thence begins a search by the Gerhardt's to try to find and kill the husband/wife that has not yet come to a conclusion.

BTW, Rye does bear a resemblance to the small, creepy-looking perp in the original movie.
