Your trip to the mall could leave you with a shopping injury. A new study shows Alabama is one of the most dangerous states for Black Friday shopping.

The blog Estately ranks our state as the third most dangerous for Black Friday shoppers. Arkansas is ranked number one, followed by Tennessee at number 2. Louisiana and Missouri round out the top 5.

I used to fish in a small stream high up (8,500’ elev) in the Cherangani Hills of Western Kenya. During Colonial times, the British had stocked it with Brown & Rainbow trout, but it had not seen many fishermen recently. I’d use a little curly-tail plastic grub with a small Colorado spinner. The fish loved it! Sometimes the trout would follow the lure up the gravel bank as I finished my retrieve.

Shoppers at the opening moments of Black Friday Sales remind me of those trout!

Back in the when I used to work at a local mall, the worse thing was long lines outside the cafes.

Check out the black gal on the floor in the video trying to get her white woman’s wig back on her head.

The local Best Buy has big bouncer-type dudes at the door, year round.

Did you know there’s apparently an official “Best Buy baseball bat”?

Seriesly.

Went to the Drudgereport site and I could not believe the fights that took place this morning going on at the Walmart for certain products.

Madness!

I did go to Michaels last night for their sales.

Very pleasant, very mellow, no stress.

Got my best friend a nice OTT LED light for her artwork space.

It was a $60 light, on sale for $22 and I used an additional 30% off coupon.

So that was nice.

:)

Kohls, Sears, KMart and the mall parking lots were overfilled.

No-go zones, for me.

In Florida we have some screwy laws or court decisions that make it impossible to stop shoplifting. Even suggesting to a shoplifter that he might like to stay for the manager to come speak to him constitutes “false imprisonment” if the subject says he thought he was being “compelled” to stay. Locking the door as that fellow with the cart full of stolen TVs races toward it is “false imprisonment.”

Yeah, and following a shoplifter out of the store to the parking lot is “stalking”.

I am surprised that OSHA hasn’t put some regulations in place by now to prevent all this door buster store mobbing on Black Friday. These events create a dangerous workplace for the employees.

BLACK FRIDAY: The Holiday Tradition of Massive Spending and Videos of Insane People
Posted by Caleb Howe on Nov 27, 2015 at 10:35 AM in

Its the Friday after Thanksgiving, and people are buying their Christmas gifts, among other things, as retail’s most hyped sales day is well underway.

Once again this year, classy stores started the marathon on Thanksgiving Day. CNN reports that an estimated one BILLION dollars was spent online on purchases as part of the madness Thursday. That is just online.

But its not all champagne and hoverboards. As this day often does, the happiest, Christmas-est, shoppingest day of the year has produced some ridiculous behavior caught on camera.

Are you not entertained? Look upon your madness and despair, shoppers.

Retail sales are expected to top a whopping $83 billion over the course of the weekend, with shoppers spending an average of about four hundred each. God rest ye merry gentlemen .. in this BRAND NEW MASSAGING RECLINER!!!

Municipalities across the country were prepared. Although judging by the videos, not prepared enough. Still, at least we know how to prep for some threats:

Not sure what our laws are but the bouncers will cheerfully show you their bats.

:)

There are reports of shoplifters nailed locally quite often here so there must be some kind of procedure in place.

What did this stupidity cost? It is a given when you are selling last year’s cheap chinese crap at half price idiots will rush to buy it. They will run you over, trample you, beat you and maybe even pull a gun on you.

And these stores have NO SECURITY inside or in parking lots.

Stay HOME!

VERY HIGH minority populations, and the under educated. Smart people stay home and rest.

Why are muslims getting in on Black Friday CHRISTmas sales?

I make it a point in Dec not to approach a muslim cashier they OFFEND ME.

Same here. Weather is good for it. I had to do some more leaf maintenance and cleaned some gutters while I was on the ladder - that took some time. I also got a bit of a head start last weekend by taking boxes out of the attic. We think alike!

I have had to repair some light strands, and that takes time. Sometimes I just throw them away, but if the problem is obvious and it takes just a few bulbs, I'll do it. But it is tedious.

I am about 1/3rd complete now, just having some lunch.

Wife and one daughter are out shopping, more power to them.

At the WalMart here much of the loot will be stolen. WM here has security guards but they are not allowed to stop someone making a run for the door with $5000 of electronics in his basket so many do that, especially with the crowds attending super-sale days.

Looks like you are correct.
